KechPhrase Is Still Dropping Knowledge Live From Nigeria
Philly rapper KechPhrase, a member of Kool AD’s Greedhead imprint Veehead, has been working super hard lately. In the last couple weeks he has released (not one but) TWO sequels to his original Kechstrumentals: Live From Nigeria beat tape. Live From Nigeria 2 is available on DJ Booth and you can stream part 3 on his Soundcloud.
Every Kechstrumental is solid. From very “hip hop” beats like “Corrupt & Arbitrary” off volume 3 which flips a dope uses jazz sample and also samples Jay-Z saying “Shorter Than Leprauchauns” to beats like the trappy and electronic “Stay Up” off part 2. Both tapes are awesome and really show off KechPhrase’s talent as a producer.
Speaking of “electronic,” Kechphrase released an instrumental single recently that isn’t on his beat tapes that’s pretty different from his rap production, but still very cool. That track is “Uzo Is Lovely,” a house music-ish beat dedicated to and named after his mother.
Not only has he put out two beat tapes and released the single “Uzo Is Lovely,” but KechPhrase has also remixed the Danny Brown and Party Trash collab “Grown Up.” The original “Grown Up” is really upbeat and fun (and probably wins the award for cutest video 2012), and KechPhrase builds off that using a super joyful vocal sample on his remix beat. The “Grown Up” remix will be a part of a remix project KechPhrase is working on and his remix of Fat Tony’s “You Ain’t Fat” which he dropped a few months back will also be on there.
There’s So much awesome KechPhrase stuff is out and much more to come! Don’t sleep!
