Rocky x Sandy (Sorry It’s Late)
So I rolled out to the Danny Brown/Schoolboy Q/ASAP Rocky show the last week of October. Unfortunately I didn’t make it there before 9:30, and thusly missed Danny and most of Q’s performance. Very big bummer. I made the best of it though, got some good flicks of Rocky, and hung out with Ian from BSBD. I had planned to get the photos up promptly, but I wound up having to reschedule my trip to New York the next day, and fly out 2 days early. I planned to go to NYC every year for Halloween when I left in 2010. Last year the DEA, and various cannabis industry stuff got in the way of that. But this year I planned my trip far in advance and wasn’t going to miss it on account of a hurricane. I’ve been through plenty hurricanes in Florida. I’m not tripping.
I wound up losing power and water in NY, and needless to say fell way behind on stuff. However I did get some pretty good photos. The ones from NY are from Sunday before Sandy blew in, and then Monday night. There isn’t much to see by way of wreckage—although I got some solid shots of the flooded out areas on Avenue C where cars were washed down the street and left strewn about in way that clearly don’t result from parking—it’s moreso uncanny darkness. If you don’t know NY the photos of Sandy’s aftermath probably won’t mean much. But if you do know New York, then seeing these places this dark is truly other-worldly. It was certainly an ominous time in the city. Anyways, for your viewing pleasure, a juxtaposition of hip hop and the aftermath of mother nature.

(somebody told this fireman do the pee wee herman and he got to it)
