Fridays for Fighting: Happy New Year

Oh hey, happy New Year’s from us and Junior Dos Santos. How goes it my fellow blood thirsty, barbaric, savages that are known as MMA fans? Just kidding, I’m sure some of you are martial artists too, and that’s cool because that’s sort of like the allure of Mishka and the occult. No, that makes absolutely no sense, but picture a guy in a gi trying to do magic tricks. I hope your root beer pounding, fried mushroom eating, sparkling apple cider guzzling New Years blast does not hinder you from sticking to the highest of all highest New Year’s resolutions. Being more like Steven Seagal. Let that be the greatest video you’ve watched in 2013, so far.

Speaking of greatest, what really went down in 2012? A couple of title’s changed, a couple of skulls were cracked, love was madeWho better to wrap everything up than our good friend, and spiritual advisor, Bloodstain Lane aka while you were wondering where Mike Goldberg was, Bloodstain Lane was in your girlfriends room doing what a real man does. So take a half hour out of your extremely busy day at the office to enjoy a very in depth look at what 2012 had to offer the combat sports community, as well as which award Bob Arum won in the BSL 2nd Annual Combat Sports Awards Extravaganza.

When Michael Bisping isn’t busy blogging for Yahoo Sports, he’s training for his upcoming bout against Vitor Belfort on the January 19th card for UFC on FX. Vitor compteting at Middleweight again after what looked like his best performance in years against Jon Jones is a little odd to me. I would think he fights better at LHW but I suppose he feels the need to carry on in the Middleweight division.

Bisping has been patiently waiting to get his shot at the gold, and Dana White is saying he will finally get it if he gets past Belfort. Will Belfort catch Bisping ala Hendo style or will Bisping’s crisp technical style be too much for Belfort ala Randy Couture style?! GOLDBERG VOICE LET’S GO.

Another big upcoming bout in 2013 will be Liz “The Truth” Carmouche fighting for UFC gold against UFC Women’s title holder Ronda “Rowdy” Rousey. Watch this interview and check out Carmouche hold it down, talking about the subjects of shopping and not getting arm barred. It’s going to be historical, and it’s deemed bigger than this fight. The greatest thing about that video is the fact that someone still listens to Linkin Park in 2012. More mind blowing than the fact that the Rousey/Carmouche fight is headlining over the Machida/Hendo fight.
