First Blood just dropped their new album F.B.I, initially I thought it was a concept record about F.B.I founder J. Edgar Hoover, fighting crime, illegally spying on people, and being a closeted cross dresser. It’s not. That would be a bold and inventive album for a hardcore band. Very controversial. Someone please make that joint.
It turns out that F.B.I is instead, short for First Blood Influences. It’s an album of covers the band put together to pay tribute to the bands that influenced them. This is pretty much a mix CD a hardcore kid made in ’96 called “Heavy Shit vol. 3″. There’s covers of Hatebreed, Earth Crisis, Sick Of It All, All Out War, and Cro Mags among other classic bands. As you can imagine all the songs covered are heavy-as-fuck, with extra emphasis added to the breakdowns. Luckily, there’s no left field Cranberries cover thrown in here just to look cool. They do cover Biohazard though, which is pretty on point. Not enough people respect Biohazard. Probably because Evan Seinfeld married a porn star and had a horrible acting career. Shit happens. Urban Discipline is still very tough.
