Recently released in theaters, I Am Not a Hipster tells the story of a rising singer-songwriter as he lives through the darker parts of life: escaping family life in Ohio, spreading his mother’s ashes, and handling it all one guitar track at a time. So many bikes, so much flannel, but some of the shots in the trailer are gorgeous and it claims to cover the San Diego music and art scene really well. At best, this will be a fine combination of Once and Garden State. At worst, it will be like The Savages meets August Rush. That was a stretch.

Starring no one I recognize, I Am Not a Hipster is in theaters now, but probably only the theaters that refer to themselves as “Art Houses”.
