Light Up That Spark Master Tape

The young bol Sparkmaster Tape dropped an insanely good mixtape last year, Syrup Splash, that almost everyone slept on. The internet is infinite, shit like this happens. Syrup Splash was amazing because it mixed the best parts of Memphis slap that makes you want to cruise a cemetary while pouring a 40oz out the window, screwed up vocal modulation, and raps about not giving a fuck while getting high into a hazy as fuck musical gumbo. The best part was Spark Master Tape coming through the smoke sounding like devil taking the form of a drug obsessed 22yr old, who occasionally dips into some real morose shit like checking your dead friend’s Instagram. We haven’t even gotten into the bass that hits you square in your chest in like a middle school bully. We like the rap with beats that go boom.

This new video for “Charlie’s Episode: Wayne Kest” isn’t on last year’s Syrup Splash, but it’s got the same audio collage sensibility, atmosphere, and Dresden bombing bass drops. After you go this song once and wrap your head around the insane amount of shit going in the mix, go back and listen for Spark Master’s extra detailed storytelling and very cinematic song structuring. Fans of Lil Ugly Mane and Jay Electronica’s “The Pledge” might want to check this real fast before everyone jumps on the bandwagon.
