Outrun Death With Kavinsky
In 1986, a movie called The Wraith was released. It was about a kid who gets killed in an illegal street race, but comes back as an avenging ghost/man/car hybrid. How this is possible, is never explained. It doesn’t matter, there’s a bunch of very 80s cars and Charlie Sheen. In ’86 you could make a movie off of those elements alone.
On the low, The Wraith was the most important movie French producer Kavinsky has ever seen. He’s spent the entirety of his musical career making the perfect score for this nearly thirty year old movie. This is amazing in its singleminded, obsessiveness. Most may know Kavinsky as the dude that made “Nightcall” from the Drive soundtrack. Other’s may know him as being connected to Justice and Ed Banger Records. His new full length record Outrun finally has him going full in and creating that perfect Wraith audio accompaniment. It sounds a lot like faster, anthemic Justice songs and rousing soundtracks from the 80s. This is obviously very appropriate. If you need to make a montage of videos in the near future, consider dropping in a few Kavinsky tunes to give that footage of you and your dog playing in the front yard a real epic quality.

My memory of this movie is really the suit he wears and that damn car. But you are correct. I vaguely remember a TV show or movie that was essentially a motorcycle version of this… Or did I just make that up.
