Tomorrow, SOUNDCLOUDSOUNDMOUND #1-15 (this one) will be available for download. I wanted to end this first set of the series on a dark note. Not because I wont be doing these anymore, but because this has been a particularly trying week for the young lord. And by no means did any of these get me through my week, if anything, they justified my arbitrarily chosen acts of random destruction (to myself).
Khmer Tay and Vince Staples told me to quit my job. RL Grime’s “Love Sosa” remix pushed me to more drugs than I’d hoped for in the last seven days. Cito’s (On The Beat) new instrumental wrapped the navy blue hoody over my skull, barely keeping the chill out at night. eXquire//Noble Drew Ali gave me the gall to burn some important bridges that I knew, while I was torching them down, would irk me in the end. I thought that TREE and Danny Brown’s collaboration would uplift me, and although it’s a great track, the nihilism of many of the lyrics spoke loudest to my reckless mentality. The Ariane Moffatt remix by Tommy Kruise had me nostalgic for the girls who’ve done the most damage to me. Finally, Keef and Gucci’s “Darker” did nothing more than justify me walking out an important person in my life. I told you. I fucked up this week.
None of that is gonna make any of you want to listen to this mix, but maybe it will. Maybe you need to shake your shit up. Maybe you need to explore the sides of you that everyone wants you to put away. Maybe you just need a reason. Get your middle finger ready, pop that bean, pull the bucket hat low, and let em know that shit ain’t sweet. This is take your life by the horns and break what needs to be broken. You need it. I did.
LISTEN :- CUTT GODD
