Gotta be real for a minute, I’m such a bumpkin when it comes to art that if you ask me about painters, 9 times out of 10 I’ll be like, “Uh, Salvador Dali was pretty trippy”. It’s not that I don’t appreciate art, it’s just that I’m unparalleled in how bad I am at it. Fuck, I mean, I failed pottery in high school. Straight failed a class where all you do is turn clay into little bottles, or tiny action figures or something.
But I can get down with this upcoming event, if only because I can identify with broken iPhones and after-parties. Travis Egedy’s new solo show, “Reality Engineering”, is this coming Saturday, July 6th, at Fitness. The gallery/venue combo is actually a pretty cool spot that serves as a waypoint for the myriad subcultures that slink and slither around night-time New York. Goths, punx, grrls, trustafarians, burn-outs, train-crusties, and everyone in between shows up at some point. The night’s gonna really pop off once everyone gets crammed into the basement for a Saturday night rager featuring Juliana Huxtable, Haribo, Dark Sister, and Dickpic (a collab between DJ Dog Dick and Pictureplane!)
Stop by if you wanna socialize with shadow people and strange individuals this Saturday. It’ll be fun and maybe even exceedingly dangerous!
