File this under “Things We Absolutely Do Not Need, But Appreciate Nonetheless”. Dread synthlord Kavinsky has finally circled his way back into a medium that inspired his persona and music in the first place. The undead, getaway-ghost is about to star in a mobile beat-em up brawler that looks equal parts Final Fight, River City Ransom, and GTA III filtered through some nice 3D, cel-shaded graphics. True to retrowave form, there will also be a 16-bit version of the game packaged alongside as a bonus.
So yeah, I guess there’s still a market for “pretending you’re Ryan Gosling in Drive“. Just don’t name drop that “Night Call” track at a party unless you want to watch people recoil in horror as you watch the soul of your relevancy scream and die before your very eyes.
Kavinsky will be out July 8th for all platforms.- CrimeZone20xx
