Black Tongue, hailing from Hull City, England are a self-proclaimed “downtempo hate” band – which is to say they are fucking heavy. They’re debut EP Falsifier is a solid and hard hitting little album clocking in at just 22 minutes with only six songs it’s a very digestible dose of deathcore without any filler or variant tracks. In the opening song, “H.C.H.C.” vocalist Alex Teyen calls out Black Tongue’s hometown with the chant of “Hull City Hate Crew / Fuck You!” and it is followed by a breakdown that will put a shit-eating grin on your face with how blissfully heavy and sloppy it is. The rest of the album follows suit with down tempo groove beats, two-step parts, and more breakdowns.
On the last track, “Voices” Black Tongue manages to throw in a few noisy sound effects in between chugs to end the note on an experimental note while still keeping things downright disrespectful with the final lyrics “Kill yourself / Retreat to the underworld / Suffer in hell.” If you live in the states you probably won’t be seeing Black Tongue live anytime soon but Falsifier is the answer for those looking for something new to bedroom mosh to.- willxcore
