As someone who listens to rap music professionally, I hear a lot of struggle rap. Dudes combing through rhyming thesauruses on the super scientifical lyrical flows, and dudes who work at McDonald’s rapping about iced out Lambos, in that flow that only works for Migos on 2/3s of “Versace”. Unfortunately, struggle rap in the Scarface “My Block” or Ghostface “All That I Got Is You” way, is not as abundant these days.
Black Zheep‘s second single, “Hundreds of Centuries”, off of his upcoming Refugee, is a rap about struggle propped up by a wildly spacey production. While the music sounds like dude floating through the lower levels of the #based stratosphere, Black Zheep sounds as weary as a broke vampire who’s been around since the days of the dinosaurs. Really strong flows here that Highlanders and fans of Main Attrakionz are definitely feeling right now.
