Here’s the one and only radio interview with James Stinson, months before his tragic early death at the age of 32. He’s best known for his band Drexciya with partner Gerald Donald. Drexciya is probably the biggest influence on my own music and the way I approach my art, and I am sure that sentiment rings true for countless musicians across the planet.
Mr. Stinsons’ earnest love for electronic music is expressed in this interview. There are striking moments when he discusses the personal sacrifice he has made to keep his vision pure. And sadly towards the end, he briefly mentions that he is suffering from some health issues which unfortunately lead to his early demise. Even if electro isn’t your thing, I feel this interview will inspire you to push harder with your own passions and help you always stay true to your vision.
The interview ends with:
Interviewer “You have no plans of stopping.”
Stinsons “Not till I die, that’s always been the motto. Experiments must continue, even til death.”- SINS
