KVLT Klips Vol. 7

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

This video series has become one of my favorites in the history of FGFS. It’s a true representation of what the sport has become. Antonyo’s quarter tech lines are dialed, Congo’s 26″ fixed and peg tricks are fast, Pissy and Matt are holding it down, pegless and on 29′rs. My only qualm is that I thought Pissy did a 180 to fakie crank arm? I’m sure they’re saving that one.

Keep on top of the game at Wolfdrawn!

Rory Mcdermott Gets Down

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

Michael Chacon filmed Rory McDermott’s latest edit. Dude’s got one smooth style. I can watch riding like this all day. Very clean and technical but with a fair amount of big hits. Must see.

Monster Track 13 Is Near!

Thursday, December 1st, 2011

Year after year, NYC delivers one of the most brutal alleycats in the world: Monster Track. Say what you will about what qualifies as brutal but you can’t just show up in NYC and win this race, especially if you’ve never ridden there before. Monster Track, year after year, is a grudge match. A battle for the bravest bike messenger. No brakes are allowed and with this year reaching it’s 13th, shit’s about to be really unlucky for the racers.

For a few year’s worth of history on this race, head over to my blog. Be on the look out for more information as events warrant!

D.A.R.T. Fall/Holiday 2011 Lookbook by Tak Sakamoto

Friday, November 18th, 2011

Season after season, our D.A.R.T. line brings the goods for those of us who ride our bikes everywhere. No one wanks to walk into a bar in lycra but our durable jackets, pants and shirts look just fine. Last week, our friend Takuya Sakamoto took some of Brooklyn’s best messengers and pulled together a slick look book.

Victor has been a key figure in NYC alleycats for decades. He’s one of the OG’s in the scene and you can find him wrenching at Affinity part time, along with John John. Shawn is a staple in Williamsburg as he delivers for various restaurants on his Cinelli Supercorsa. Our man Stoned Tone is one of the few, if not the only full-time bike messenger who continues to throw alleycats, a true NYC tradition. Julie was involved with the early Bootleg Sessions project along with Wilis and others. Wilis is prepping to open a bike shop in the East Village and helps out at King Kog in his spare time.

We’re stoked to have these guys repping D.A.R.T. and the look book came out great. Make sure you check it out for more faces and figures from the NYC track bike scene and if you’re riding grab some gear for yourself in our online store.

The Kissena Velo Fund Limited Framesets and Completes

Thursday, November 17th, 2011

Literally, the last night I was in NYC, Jason from Affinity pleaded with me to take photos of the Kissena Velo Fund limited complete. The Kissena frame is one of the best looking aluminum track frames on the market in my opinion. Tight clearances, super responsive handling and people have won the nationals on them. Take all that and add a sparkly clear coat and you’ve got one snazzy looking bike. But the only problem is, photographing that beauty at night.

These completes are available now at the Affinity webshop for $1,500 and as a frameset for $750.

“This limited edition COMPLETE BICYCLE is brought to you by Affinity Cycles and only 250 are available to celebrate the achievement of building a 250 meter track. All proceeds of the frame set will go towards funding the Kissena Velo Fund. Each frame will be uniquely numbered, and your donation will make you a patron of the Kissena Velo Fund and your name will be proudly engraved into memorial wall which honors those who contributed to the fund to help make this project possible.”

Hitting the Dirt with Darryl Nau

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

Since moving to Austin, I’ve become submerged in the BMX culture. Hell, if you’re into cycling and live here, it’s hard not to. With House Park and 9th Street within a half a mile of each other, you don’t have to go far to spot a real ripper. Darryl Nau is a NY’r most of the year but he’s finding himself here in Austin more and more. Whether he’s throwing a party after an event or throwing some mean tables in the dirt, Darryl’s becoming a fixture here. Last Friday, I met up with him and some other riders and shot photos. Here are the choice cuts.

Prolly Visits the Philly Bike Expo

Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

… and I shot a whole lotta photos of bikes. Last weekend was the 2011 Philly Bike Expo. Builders from all over came to display their latest and greatest creations. I hung out with friends, shot the shit and picked up my slick, custom Icarus track bike. Here’s just one photo, you can see more here. And speaking of Icarus, I also shot photos of Chris’ killer Icarus road bike. There were a ton of beautiful bikes at the expo, including a few from Chris Bishop, like this fixed gear and this monster road bike.

There’s a whole lot more coverage from the Philly Bike Expo over on my blog. Go check it out!
