Store Spotting: El Producto Eyes Our Products

Thursday, May 24th, 2012

Man of the hour El-P recently stopped by our 350 Broadway Store to pick up that fresh jacket (which later made an appearance on national TV), taking a break from what has surely been an insanely busy couple of weeks for him.

After years of seeing him struggle with the various hardships that befell Def Jux, and just the whole ringtone rap era, it’s been – I think for everyone – deeply satisfying watching him get the recognition he deserves.

Especially with a duo of releases as strong as R.A.P. Music with Killer Mike and his own Cancer For Cure, El-P might – improbably enough – just be hitting his stride.

For more, check out our own Zachg’s recent interview with Mr. Meline, and also take a gander at some footage from the recent C4C release party at Santos.

Store Spotting: You Can’t Stop Flux Pavilion

Monday, May 21st, 2012

Our homie Flux Pavilion was in the States recently, stopping by NYC for an awesome show at Roseland Ballroom. While he was here he was nice enough to make an appearance at 350 Broadway with some friends, all of whom were supporting the Death Adder in all its different incarnations in full force.

This bleach top dubstep guru has only been getting better and more popular, not only in the UK but all over the world, especially after his hit “I Can’t Stop” was co-opted for a Watch The Throne beat. Essentially the ultimate co-sign.

He also met up for an interview with the team at ItsBongoBoy, and made a sartorial decision so simple and yet so awesome: rocking the Lamour Bomber inside out to show off Lamour Supreme’s insane lining design.

In all seriousness, how in the fuck had this not occurred to me? Is everyone else doing this and I’m just the last to know? Whatever the case may be, it’s certifiably wicked. Flux Pavilion: always innovating.

Last Friday, 350 Broadway Supplied The Partying

Monday, May 7th, 2012

We hadn’t had an instore performance at 350 Broadway since all the way back in March, which is practically a millennium in internet time (you guys all live on that, right?) but now we’re feeling right as rain because Party Supplies came in last Friday night and threw down right proper with the power of his MPC. The store is small so we can’t pack just everyone in, but don’t worry because cyberspace provides us with an unlimited capacity!

Nicky Digital was there to take some pictures which you can use to manufacture some nice artificial memories about your own attendance that may or may not have happened. Check out the full gallery over at Nicky Digital, and also remember to download Party Supllies & Action Bronson‘s excellent Blue Chips mixtape.

Store Spotting: Molly Soda Pours Some Sugar On It

Thursday, April 12th, 2012

The official queen of Tumblr, Molly Soda, stopped by our store a few weeks ago whilst in New York City visiting with her boyfriend and producer extraordinaire Hot Sugar, who clearly was not aware where the camera was for this particularly photographic endeavor.

Ms. Soda inauspiciously began her tumblr some years ago before finding her particular brand of awesomeness really struck a chord with the humans on the internet, making her page a one stop shop for the best in gifs and clip art and other kewl things.

Hot Sugar, when he’s not cracking skulls (literally), watching porn on planes, or trying to capture the majesty of a wizard’s penis, is producing awesome beats for rappers like Big Baby Gandhi and The Roots, as well as working on his own solo jumpoffs.

Can’t wait for his Moon Money EP which drops on Ninja Tune May 15th. I interviewed both of them, so look out for that on the Bloglin next week!

Deathly Visions of Alex Heir’s 350 Broadway Show

Tuesday, April 10th, 2012

It was a packed house in 350 Broadway last Friday, and each and every attendant had a terrifying vision of death while checking out Alexander Heir‘s collection of new work titled – appropriately – Visions of Death. You may know Alexander as the one man band behind boutique clothing label Death/Traitors, who’s dark and evil items we sell in our stores. He put his printing expertise to work on the awesome art that lined the walls of the store.

Igor from Driven By Boredom stopped by and shot some photos of the even, capturing the back of Alex’s wonderful jacket for perpetuity, along with some other stuff as well. As you can see, shenanigans were in full effect. Oh 350 Broadway, you and your shenanigans. Check out more shots over the Driven By Boredom website.

Revisit 350 Broadway With Children of the Night!

Tuesday, April 10th, 2012

Not gonna lie: I’m pretty surprised that 350 Broadway survived that one. We haven’t had an in store performance as rowdy and raucous as the amazing one that Children of the Night put on a few Fridays ago in… forever? Fresh off the release of their stellar mixtape Queens… Revisited, Nasty Nigel, Remy Banks, and Lansky Jones were fired the fuck up and tore that shit down. Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, whatever: this thing was stuffed with homies from every borough, no doubt.

As such, I undertand that not all of you could make it, but we dispatched videographer par excellence Matthew Caron, as well as our photographer Tara (who you can – fun fact – also see singing the hook on “Ellis”) to capture the whole thing for perpetuity. The videos – all nine of them! – are up on our Vimeo now and they need to be seen to be believed (at least as far as how many people were in the store!). All the hits are there, from “Kids From Queens” to “ILYAS,” so check them out now and be sure to download Queens… Revisited if you haven’t already.

I Pity the Fool Who Doesn’t Celebrate the New Issue of T-world at 350 Broadway!

Tuesday, April 10th, 2012

Since 2005, the Australia based journal T-world has been putting out two massive issues a year of super premium content about – what else – t-shirts! Everyone’s favorite clothing item finally gets its fair turn in the spotlight, as T-world brings in all kinds of great artists, companies, and writers to pay tribute to tees and the truly massive t-shirt culture. Their next issue is focused on our home, New York City, and to celebrate they’re settin’ up shop in 350 Broadway this Friday night! Cool!

Some people fear Friday the 13th, but not us – we embrace that evil mofo and throw a party on it! You should do the same, especially since if you come out you can scoop up a fresh from the presses copy of the new T-world, as well as the absolutely killer – and absolutely #rare – t-shirt we printed up to commemorate it. Mr. T’s influence has been with Мишка from the start (have you seen Greg’s tumblr??) so when it came time to cook up a T-world tee, well, we knew what we had to do. The tee is running for $30, and the journal a low low $20, but there are only 100 t-shirts available, so you better come quick!

Alexander Heir’s New Work at 350 Broadway This Friday!

Wednesday, April 4th, 2012

After the success of our past two art shows – Mishka art director Mike JonesNo Time For Love and the Royce Bannon curated group show While You Were Sleeping – we’re very excited to be working with Brooklyn artist and clothing designer Alexander Heir to display his new work, starting this Friday, April 6th, in 350 Broadway.

Besides being the founder and one-man production machine behind label Death/Traitors (who we’ve been selling in our stores since 2011), and one half of Burn Books (an independent publishing company focused on promoting local artists), Heir is also an accomplished print maker. His work is defined by dark imagery that draws as much influence from religious and occult imagery as it does punk rock.

A constant original, Heir works in mediums as varied as clothing, concert posters, skate decks, jewelry, prints, and more. His new print work is primed to make the walls of 350 Broadway even more mystical than they already are. As mentioned, the show will be opening Friday night and will be accompanied by a party from 7-10PM. Hope to see you all there!

Ain’t No Party Like a World’s Fair Party…

Monday, April 2nd, 2012

If you were one of the lucky few to get inside our shop this past Friday you witnessed an incredible show and new you were catching something special. Over a hundred people packed in while probably another 30 or 40 listened outside to Children of the Night go through a good chunk of Queens… Revisited. I don’t think you’ll ever get the chance to see these kids from queens in such an intimate setting ever again. The craziest thing was how many of the attendees seemed to know the words to almost every song. This thing JUST DROPPED!

It was  a family affair, as all of World’s Fair joined COTN for tracks along with one of our other favorite emcees from NYC, Lakutis. Brooks Bobbins was there snapping away, and he’s a great gallery of shots from the event over on his site.

Kids From Queens Invading Our Brooklyn Store!

Monday, March 26th, 2012

The store might be right in the heart of Brooklyn, but for one night next week 350 Broadway is becoming an honorary outpost of Queens, for what’s sure to be a very memorable performance by trio Children of The Night celebrating the release of their new album, Queens… Revisited. The album comes out tomorrow, Tuesday, March 27th, and we couldn’t be more excited (judging by the reception of recent single “Kids From Queens” neither could you).

As you probably know, Children of the Night are part of the larger Queens collective World’s Fair, who played a ridiculously awesome sold out show at Santos Party House last week. So imagine what seeing COTN in the incredibly intimate setting of 350 Broadway is going to be like? Nasty Nigel, Remy Banks, and Lansky Jones are three of New York’s rising rap stars, and the fact that they all work together makes it even better. So grab “Kids From Queens” below, gird yourselves for tomorrow’s release, and we’ll see you at the store on Friday!
