An epic battle that has gripped the hearts and minds of the nation since its commencement some weeks ago, The Мишка Worldwide Style Contest came to a thrilling finish last Thursday. We’ve spent the the ensuing days locked up in a safe room with representatives from PricewaterhouseCooper, the same firm responsible for calculating the Academy Award ballots, relentlessly poring over the little number under the post that tells you how many notes it has.

In retrospect, we probably could have saved a couple hundred thousand bucks there. Oh well, you live and you learn. The point is, the winners are here and those are the photos above. Let’s go through a quick rundown of the winners and their awesome prizes.

3rd Place: thirtynineproblems – 106 Notes

Third place was definitely an unexpected turn, as the $50 of credit in our online store was actually won by a super cute french bulldog, presumably owned by Tumblr’r thirtynineproblems. Way to look outside of the box and collect 106 notes!

2nd Place: lougzgee – 815 Notes

Second place, and $100 credit, was taken by a very fervent Мишка fan, the always welcome lougzgee, who threw together a great outfit featuring a bunch of Мишка and clocked in at an impressive 815 notes.

1st Place: ohchuruudrew – 1,733 Notes

Finally, in first place was ohcharuuudrew, rocking a Keep Watch Pom Beanie and racking up a staggering 1,733 notes. Wowee zowee! Congratulations ohcharuuudrew, you just won $200 in Мишка store credit! Thanks to everyone for participating, we hope to do more of these in the future. True Panther Sound has had great success with their Shortcuts concert series. You may remember the first one last year, which brought together A$AP Rocky & SpaceGhostPurrp just as they were both breaking out, or maybe Shortcuts 2 with Syd Tha Kid, Zebra Katz, and Spoek Mathambo. Tomorrow night marks #3, as Santos Party House is once again set upon by Shortcuts this time accompanied by Gunplay from MMG, Bodega Bamz, Ratking, and DJ’ing from King Solomon and Deanie Man.

Tickets are at least $15, but we’ve got our grubby little mitts on a pair of those sweet sweet duckets and we’re looking to dish them out to one of you lucky son of a guns from the internet. But you gotta do something IRL! The first person to go to our 350 Broadway location and ask for the Gunplay tickets gets the pair. Sup Mopsters!? As you know, we’ve been running this Tumblr contest for the past week, and we’ve just hit the half way mark. Here’s a little refresher in case you’re suffered selective amnesia since the event, or are just really really stoned: we recently revamped and relaunched our whole tumblr game, turning it into a pretty and pretty active space for everyone to share Мишка related content. To start things off on the right foot, we’re holding the Мишка Worldwide Style Contest. It runs until 11:59PM EST on Thursday April 19th.

We want you to submit a photo of yourself in an interesting (perhaps foreign) location in you favorite Мишка gear. Submit the image on Tumblr with the tag “mopster,” we’ll reblog them, and at the end of the contest the posts with the 3 most notes win! Third place gets a $50 credit in our online store, second $100, and the overall winner gets a whopping $200 credit. 5. lougzgee (97 Notes)

Yo, real talk: this dude lougzgee has to be one of the most committed Мишка fans I’ve encountered on all my days here. Not only that, but he has a serious army behind him on twitter and tumblr trying to get him involved with the company… somehow. You gotta admire that kind of devotion, and so shout outs to you lougzgee.

You got on our list with this photo of you and your girl at prom or something. Is that a Spark Plug Chambray I see beneath the Ferris Cardigan? Better be homie. What really made this photo for me was two things: your girls hair, and the reflection of the mylar balloons in the window. I’m not sure what kind of party you were at, but any party with mylar balloons is my kind of party.

4. hihats8 (15 Notes)

This pic struck me as just fine at first: 3 dudes, some Мишка gear, swag faces, etc. But the more I looked at it, the more I realized: holy shit, there’s a lot of Мишка in this picture. First off, all three guys appear to be decked out head to toe in gear, including the Good Wood necklace, and I think maybe even sunglasses.

But that’s not all! The set dressing here is humorous and wonderful and includes: a row of Мишка hats, some sort of trophy (very nice touch boys), and finally a hastily spray painted cyrillic Мишка in the background. And they didn’t even fuck up any of the lettering. Kudos gents!

Beautiful girl + lounging + stockings + Мишка = what’s not to like here people?? This shot looks so legit that I actually had to ask my boss whether it was from some lookbook that I had forgotten about, but nope: home brewed. In fact, it’s taken by this girl Lauren who is one of our more active female fans, and apparently quite the photographer. Shouts to you, young Lauren!

I especially like that you (or your model) chose that Freddy Krueger shirt from some collections back. It was nice to see that not everything in this contest came from Spring 12 or Holiday 11. Longtime fans = our favorites.

2. onlybespoke (13 Notes)

Now we get into the pics that really had some serious thought put into their art direction and composition and stuff like that. This is just a straight up pretty looking picture (pause) that shows off one iconic Мишка image without going overboard. The extreme whiteness of the Keep Watch eye really brings out the colors of the flowers. #artcritic

The tranquil, grassy scene evoked a pleasant springtime, perhaps in New England or – as I came to find out (I think) – regular ol’ England. I definitely thought this one was going to be our number one until…

1. 2caiten5 – (5 Notes)

Damn homie. The picture with the least amount of notes also happens to be our favorite. It’s a cold, cold world out there 2caiten5. This hit all of the requirements, including the foreign location (Chiba, Japan) and just looks awesome. I’ve written before about how I want to wear the Painters Caps just so when people look down at me I look like an evil bear, and it turns out the effect is just as sweet as I suspected.

The patterned, seemingly neverending off-white background contrasts awesomely with the darkness of the Painters cap and the Varsity Jacket, and the casual walk lets you know that wherever this dude is going, he’s gonna be the coolest guy there. Congratulations on topping our monetarily meaningless High Five!

So one day we were leaning out of our window in cyberspace, looking over the majestic flowing fields of 1′s, 0′s, and porn, when we spotted our friends Hypebeast, who were out for a walk on the information superhighway. After exchanging digital pleasantries, we decided our fortuitous meeting had to be commemorated. If you listen to electronic music (which of course you do), you’re inundated with DJ mixes on a daily basis. Predictably, quantity outnumbers quality. This is doubly frustrating for DJs, most of whom think/know they can do better.

With that in mind, our friends Bass Fueled Mischief, AEG Live, and Nicky Digital are throwing down the gauntlet with the GOT WOMP? DJ Comp 2011 contest. This is your chance to show off your party starting, dancefloor melting DJ skills.

What’s at stake? The first place winner gets, among other things, an opening set at Metropolis at the Highline Ballroom, an Ableton Live course (courtesy Dubspot), some fresh Mishka gear, and tickets to see dubstep maestros Zed’s Dead and Mt Eden at Best Buy Theatre. Second place isn’t too shabby, either, and you’ll take home a Mishka hat & tee set, along with some tickets. Winning mixes will be featured on Nicky Digital.

For those who still don’t know, XLR8R magazine has been the authority in forward thinking electronic music for the past 18 years! Back when we had to hit the newsstands to stay up on shit.
