Every single day our inboxes and @replies get bombarded with someone saying “Yo check out/post this video cuz we’re wearing Мишка” or “We name check you in this song” or “Yo, we’re big fans, put out our mixtape and send us free gear.” We, really appreciate how passionate you guys are and the fact that so many of our fans are talented and strong musical aspirations since in case you haven’t noticed, music is a big part of our brand’s identity. Now unfortunately we just can’t post most of what you guys send us for a variety of reasons, but we listen and look and are appreciative.

But you know what we’re going to do? We’re going to hold a “Make a Мишка Song Contest.” and you know what will probably happen? Now that we’re holding an official contest NO ONE will bother to enter! Ha!

So the rules are simple… write a song that’s about us. You can make a video for it, or not… up to you, but it has to be about us in general or some aspect of the brand (eg. Cyco Simon, Keep Watch Eyeball, The Toilet Cobra Being a Dirty Hipster, I Hate Badman Shark, etc, etc). We don’t care if it’s Hip Hop, Electro, Dubstep, Punk, Black Metal, Grindcore or Polka… IT JUST HAS TO BE ABOUT US, ENTIRELY ABOUT US.

You have until Friday, November 12th to submit your song to bloglin@mishkanyc.com with “Мишка Song Contest” in your subject line. We’ll then finalize it to three finalists (post them up) and choose a winner. Anyone can enter, be you a kid in your bedroom with a pro-tools set up or a band signed to major label, pushing 10 whips and summer homes in the French Riviera. The winner will receive $300 in online credit, with the other two finalists getting $75 in credit each and of course some bragging rights and shine on your music! Plus you know how we do… this may (or may not) be your way into having us talk about you regularly on the Bloglin like you’re Crookers, Das Racist or Blessure Grave or some shit. You never know…

P.S. For those of you who still can’t pronounce our name correctly it’s “meeshka” not “mihshka.” Might be the difference between winning and losing!

Today, SEEN will be taking part in a segment on G4′s Attack of the Show giving away the above pair of custom Jamesons to one lucky viewer. These shoes were custom painted by our own Lamour Supreme for Мишка, as part of the Etnies and SEEN sponsored sneaker auction for the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.

Part of Lamour Supreme’s illustrious career included airbrushing T-shirts, jackets, jeans, whatever while working at the now defunct UNIQUE in the Village. We asked Lamour to take things back to his airbrushing days and really make the sort of shoe you’d be proud to wear (or win) at your neighborhood “feast.”

Man did Lamour ever go to town on these shoes!!! There’s a stoned Alf, Noid, Kool-Aid Man, a cracked out E.T., a drunk Smurf and even some Gremlins. Basically everything a juvenile delinquent circa 1988 would have asked him to paint on a tee. I think I smell a few “cease and desists” coming our way thanks to Lamour!

These are like the greatest 80′s pop-culture acid trip you’ve never had and are a one of one. If you want them make sure you’re watching today’s Attack of the Show on G4. For images of these bad boys head over to SEEN.

Calling all bedroom producers, DJs and musicians…Our friends at Mad Decent are starting a brand new, regularly occurring remix contest and are kicking things off by allowing you the chance to remix Yeasayer’s “O.N.E.”. All you have to do is go here and download all of the component parts and go to town with your remix! You guys don’t even need to have any proprietary software to participate! Aviary has been gracious enough to provide an online based version of their program to use in creating your remix.

The winners are determined by public voting only and voting is limited by IP address, so it’s up to you as the creator to promote your mix. There are Twitter, Facebook, and embeddable codes to help with reaching the public and getting people to hear your remix. Remixers can upload multiple mixes although any duplicates of the same remix will be removed.

Entries begin April 22nd, 2010 (2 weeks submission) and close May 14th, 2010 (after 1 week of voting). Winners will be announced shortly after and you can see a full list of the rules and prizes by clicking here.

TOTALLY4TEENS is the brain child of Derrick Beckles, the same video genius who brought you TV Carnage, and who has brought myself countless hours of video-watching-ecstasy, over and over and over again. Not too long ago, he was commissioned to develop a show for Adult Swim, along with some of the people behind Wonder Showzen and the Daily Show, and it’s finally about to see the light of day… but it may not last!

Adult Swim is pitting TOTALLY4TEENS up against Soul Quest Overdrive in a death match for which show gets to make it onto the station’s regular programming during its Big, Uber, Network Sampling (click here to vote) competition. The voting ends at midnight tonight so please, please, please do me a favor and and go to the site and vote for it and give me the gift of something new to constantly get blazed on my couch to. It’s losing pretty bad right now and I assure you, in the long haul, it’ll be the better show!

The world’s largest New Era cap belongs to us and lives at 350 Broadway. Perhaps you remember this Store Spotting with DJ School Boy (Seen above) when most of the world first caught glimpse of it?

“Some time ago, we approached New Era about producing this mammoth of hat. Why? Simply because we wanted to know if we could make the world’s largest New Era. It seemed to be the perfect opportunity to take our iconic Keep Watch logo to the next level.

And much to our delight, New Era obliged. We were then graced with a 16″ Keep Watch New Era. The first of its kind but definitely not the last. It then snowballed into four more giant hats because of how pleased we were the first one.

So as such, we’ve decided that if anyone is deserving of the biggest hat, it should be one of Mishka’s biggest fans.”

Pressure cooker time!

A few weeks back The Fader dropped their excellent WMIG Vol. 11 with SALEM and now they’re back with Southern Comfort for their 11th installment in their special limited edition 7″ vinyl series that has seen releases by the likes of Bloglin faves Ladyhawke, Black Lips, Telepathe, DJ Blaqstarr and Wavves (among others). For this edition, lo-fi electro gothers SALEM are once again in the mix, joined by the brothers from electronic duo Tanlines for the B-side.

The Midwestern trio SALEM grace the a-side with their track “Babydaddy,” showcasing their penchant for blending goth, blunted vocals and layered synthesizes. Flip the 45 for “S.A.W.” by Brooklyn’s Tanlines to woo you out of your SALEM induced daydream and swoop you into their hazy, sun-kissed twist with xylophones and warm drum machines.

Only 500 copies of the record were pressed and we have 2 to giveaway to our Bloglin faithful.
