Recap: 350 Broadway’s 1st Anniversary AKA $3.50 Мишка Tattoo Day!

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

As 365 days seemed to stream by in a blur of sales, boobie pics, and fart jokes, March 13th marked 1 year strong for the our very first Мишка retail store, in our home-base of Brooklyn, NY. It has been a huge year for us, with new Мишка stores constantly popping up like dandelions, and we figured that it would only be right to pay back those who are most responsible for such an awesome year… YOU GUYS BACK HOME!

So for our 1 year anniversary celebration, we decided to team up with Three Kings Tattoo to give all of our most loyal supporters a chance to get inked up, Мишка style, at 350 Broadway for only $3.50. And once the news broke out, madness ensued…

Even on a cold and rainy Saturday morning, there were fans lined up outside the store for hours before we opened. They were all eager to be the first to feel the lovely sting of the needle. Swiftly, the list filled up with a legion of fans all enthused to get inked.

The talented team at Three Kings wasted no time in putting needle to flesh, and neither did the people in attendance in deciding which piece of Мишка flash they would be taking with them from now to eternity. I like to think of it as the perfect accessory for any Мишка outfit.

Now what would a Мишка event be without a few fly guys swinging by to say “Hi!”? A few familiar faces made their way to the store to be a part of the festivities and waited their turn to be tattooed.

Even with the huge turnout and pouring rain, the all-day event ran smoothly under the watchful eyes of Cyco Simon and his new and ever-faithful companion, Mr. T-Yoda. No kicking and screaming went down on this day, as this duo made sure that everyone manned up.

To further set the tattoo parlor ambiance (as if the neon lights weren’t enough), the guys from Three Kings brought over some of their favorite pieces from their shop to display on our gallery wall. Make your way down to 350 B’way yourself and check it out, there are some great pieces.

The guys at Three Kings knocked out the tattoos in an efficient and orderly fashion, while sharing a few smiles and giggles with their patrons.

It might be because we’re in Brooklyn, but around these parts, we live by the motto of “No pain, No Gain”.  So while this young fellow screeches in agony as the needle  pierces his flesh, the only thing that I can think to say to him is “go to your happy place dude” because it will be worth it in the end.

This is Joel, a regular over at 350 Broadway. He got the early scoop on this event weeks ago so he had plenty of time to figure out the exact location for his Death Adder tattoo. Looks like he made a good choice.

Our very own Ease DaMan stopped by the shop to show some love and support to his favorite store. However I have a feeling that he really came to show off his new “Fruck Ease DaMan” on loose-leaf paper pinky nails.

As soon as all of us got our first peak at the final flash art for the anniversary event, we all pondered to ourselves for a moment as we tried to figure out who was going to be the first to get the Bozak tattoo. Who’s Bozak? Well he is is a cute and lovey testicle character that we invented some three years back, but has never since surfaced…well actually he’s on the Freaky Stylee blog banner.

Well, with all pun intended, this lovely young lady was the only person that was ballsy enough to get the Bozak tattoo. Maybe it was her free willing spirit, maybe it was her you only live once attitude, or maybe it was the Happy Hour across the street at Trophy bar. Whatever it was, she loved Bozak as much as much as we do, and we give you a thumbs up for that!

Store Spotting: The Bloglin Attacks…Hadouken!

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

Have you ever wondered who some of the dudes are that write for the Bloglin? Well a while back we got a visit here at 350 Broadway from two of our favorite Bloglin contributors, Dr. Dinosaur (left) who has been doing videogame posts and Oh Mars! (right), the man behind most of our TV re-ups, movie reviews and just one of the Bloglin’s all-around editors.

I know you might be wondering if these guys are as cool as they write… and the answer is yes! Their internet demeanor truly carries over into their real-life personalities. And even through I think of these guys as local celebrities ’round these parts, they keep it pretty humble.

These guys told me that they’ve been meaning to make their way down to the store for a while now, which I thought was mainly to throw me some props for all of my store spottings. But alas these dudes’ real intentions were for a good ole’ game of Street Fighter.

The game started to get a little heated when Oh Mars! took the victory in a best out of 3 series. But before it got too heated and turned into an actual street fight these guys got off of the sticks and made up as good blogger buddies should. They even gave me the drop on their next up and coming venture, the formation of the first ever Folk-Dubstep band. I think the name of the group is still up in the air, but either way I still gave my nod of approval and wished the guys the best of luck… I think that they might need it.

Come Celebrate 350 Broadway’s 1st Anniversary with $3.50 Мишка Inspired Tattoos!

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

So with all of the hubbub of our recent retail expansion to Los Angeles and Tokyo, maybe you thought we forgot all about our homebase here in Brooklyn? WRONG! This Saturday, March 13th, marks the one year anniversary of the opening of our flagship store in South Williamsburg. To celebrate, we’re doing it up big with our own way of publicly stating that “we’re here to stay”…permanently, like a tattoo!

We’ve teamed up with our friends over at Three Kings to bring you an entire day-long event, where you can get tattooed with your choice of custom Мишка-inspired flash artwork, created by the gracious and talented artists from the shop. But here’s the kicker… the tattoos are only going to be $3.50!* That’s effin’ right, for the cost of a bacon, egg & cheese on a bagel from your local bodgea, we’re giving you the opportunity to get a tattoo from one of New York’s finest shops. You’ll N-E-V-E-R get a deal this great on this kind of work!

The shop will open at 12 noon and will stay open until 8pm, permanently adorning a legion of fans, hipsters, hoodrats, heshers and hypebeasts with a lil bit ‘o Мишка that they’ll take with them forever and ever! So come by, get tattooed, do some shopping (we’ll have Spring 2 in-store that day) and have a few drinks! It’ll be a Saturday you’ll never forget!

To handle overflow and give everyone a comfortable place to chill while they wait their turn to get inked, our neighbors across the way at Trophy Bar have been very gracious to open their doors at 1pm that day. They’ll be having $3 Brooklyn Lagers ’til 11pm and a happy hour from 5-8pm with $3 well drinks, $2 off drafts and $4 margaritas & bloody marys. Then, from 7-10pm,  Trophy will host an after party for the 1st anniversary, featuring the Chronic Youth DJs and a special DJ set by Prince Terrence of Hussle Club. Oh and did I mention that there’s a huge lead-up party to all of this the night before? More on that later today…

Please note: Anyone getting a tattoo must be at least 18 years old and must have a valid ID (driver’s license, passport, or birth certificate) to get tattooed! No exceptions!

*The $3.50 price does not include a gratuity for your tattoo artist. Be kind and courteous and tip the artist for his work and time!

Store Spotting: Congorock & Co.

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Recently we got a visit from one of the globes best DJs, the bass pumping  Congorock. Rocco gave us one of our most popular and best Keep Watch Mixes to date and has been a heavy Мишка supporter for a while now…the feeling is mutual!

You would be hard pressed to find a photo of Congorock out there not rocking some Мишка, so best believe anytime he’s in town he makes sure to swing by 350 Broadway and get some fresh gear.

A few weeks ago Congorock tore down a set at 88 Palace for the Flashing Lights showcase with friends like Nick Catchdubs and DJ Ayres. But on this day he came to the store with few more buddies, our very own Shark and AC Slater, two of Мишка’s favorite fellas.

And with these guys being the art snobs that they are they made sure to take in the awesomeness of the Globin art exhibit which is counting down its final days at the 350 Broadway. This is always sad to see good art go, but we never let down you guys down because we have another blazing artist who will be displaying their work soon. So stay tuned!

Because No One Likes “Mean Bar”

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Well I guess they’re called Kind for a reason… You see a while back the dudes over at Kind Snacks were, well, kind enough to start sending us case after case of their Kind bars.  We’d never heard of them until they showed up in-store, but we quickly got hooked on them. These things are dope, chocked full of nuts, seeds, fruits and all that other junk that your mommy said was good for you.

We’ve been scarfing these down for months now, sometimes two at a time… So I figured it was damn time I gave these things a plug! Come 4pm  and I realize I haven’t eaten all day because Mikhail keeps screaming at me to get a store spotting up, I just can’t resist a little ‘Nut Delight” *pause*.

So if you want to try one for yourself and we haven’t finished them all off, drop by 350 Broadway and ask us for one. Each and every flavor has been taste tested and approved by Pete our friendly store clerk so I’m petty certain you’ll like whichever one we slip you.

Stalley Visits 350 Broadway

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

On the brink of our in-store release of the current Spring 2010 collection, two of Hip Hop’s biggest movers for 2010 (just you watch!) Stalley and Ski Beatz made their way over to 350 Broadway along with a film crew from Creative Control after getting wind that our Spring collection was something serious…

Stalley gave the camera crew a tour around the shop and highlights some of his favorite Spring-1 pieces currently on hand. If you can’t make it to 350 Broadway and see what all the buzz is about in person, don’t worry! You can still get your hands on your favorite piece right now from our online store.

Store Spotting: Anarchy at 350 Broadway!

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Straight out of the Japan, we recently got a visit from one of the biggest rap stars from Japan. Anarchy told us that while in NY he had to take a trip down to see one to one of his favorite brands, us! Anarchy has been tearing up the Tokyo scene for years now but ever since he dropped his second album Dream and Drama last year his name’s been on the tongue a lot of Japanese Hip-Hoppers.

Anarchy brought out his whole team as they went of  shopping spree grabbing everything in site (he really is a fan). So I knew that it would put a huge smile on his face when I told him that we’ll be having a presence Tokyo very, very shortly…but like a true fan he already knew.

Anarchy even came baring gifts! Being the cool guy that he is, Anarchy made sure to drop off a autographed copy of his latest album and live performance DVD of Dream and Drama. And since we love gifts we made sure to send him and his team back to Tokyo with a bunch of 350 Broadway exclusives that are only found here in our Brooklyn location. That should hold him over… well at least for a couple of weeks.

Store Spotting: Ski in Spring

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Ski2 1 350

Ski Beatz got wind that we just received our Spring-1 collection and wasted no time in making his way down to 350 Broadway. Ski got a sneak peak of what was to come for the Spring season and immediately fell in love with our Trailblazer satin white jacket with the embroidered back.

Ski2 2 350

Last time Ski was here we were discussing the release of his 24 Karate School album which is overloaded with a variety of Hip-Hop and R&B artists doing their thing over Ski’s beats. Since then just to tease us he’s released the 24 Hour Karate School (Snippets), a mixtape with quick clips of all the featured songs on the album just to wet your appetite until the release of the actual album in late March. To keep up to date with what’s happening with Ski at the Dojo check out the 24 Hour Karate School website.

Blu

But if the snippets of the karate school mixtape isn’t enough for you, then check out Ski Beatz and the rest of the DD172 collective as the jam out tonight at The Gramercy Theater tonight. The BluRoc show will feature many of the artists from the album along with a whole heap of special guests and surprises as they will be performing live some joints from the up and coming album. It should be a great show!

Store Spotting: The Lamour & Earl Show!

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Lamour Supreme and Earl 350

Recently we got a visit from one of our favorite artists, who just so happened to bring along a friend of his. Lamour Supreme popped into the store with a little surprise in his bag of tricks. Straight out of Showbiz Pizza, The Rock-afire Explosion’s very own Earl Schmerle from the Rolfe and Earl Show.

Lamour and Earl 2 350

Except this time Earl ditched DeWolf for a (slightly) cooler companion. Lamour had just finished putting the final touches up on restoring this Earl puppet and wanted to gloat! If you ask me, Earl is looking just as spiffy as ever, and even better with the updated head gear. The good doctor Supreme has some magical hands. I think that I might need him to do some work on me as well. Anything to shave off a year or two!

And just because this gives us reason to lets hear Earl kick out his best Jeezy once again (fast forward to 2:34)…
