Fuck Scientists! ICP On The Howard Stern Show

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

ICP are no strangers to the Stern Show. I remember them as frequent and usually great guests from high school through college. So It’s no surprise that Howard had them on the show when they hit New York for their concert and booze cruise. We no longer get SiriusXM here in the offices so it’s been a long while since I listened to the show. I hadn’t even realized that they were on this past week. But Walker Warren (of the Eli Porter Documentary) did and past this along to us thinking we’d enjoy it. We did.

No one conducts an interview like Stern, and this is one entertaining half hour with J and Shaggy. We find out that J and Sugar Slam have broke up, some talk about fuckin’ with the facepaint, organ donation, the Tila Tequila debacle and a deep discussion about scientists and their lying ways. J and Shaggy also claimed to lose money on each Gathering and really only do them just to do it… I don’t believe ‘em. No way their not moving a shit ton of merch and concessions but whatever. Howard and ICP also take some calls… always great. Anyway, Lovin’ them Coogi suits.

Welcome to Dayton Ave, Home of Clowns and Cocaine

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

The newest signees to Psychopathic Records should be no stranger to anyone who follows Detroit hip hop, The Dayton Family. They came onto the scene in 1993 and have released a slew of great singles and albums. This is the video for the newest single off the new Psycho EP released on Psychopathic’s sub label Hatchet House entitled “Cocaine.”

This video is ridiculous and I love it. The video features cameos by our two favorite clowns Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope, not to mention a few other familiar faces from within the Juggalo realm indulging in that white girl. It’s good to see Psychopathic branching out, lets just hope it lasts.

Nicki Minaj Is Giving Me a Big Hatchetman

Wednesday, January 12th, 2011

Huh. I almost don’t really know what to say. The new V Magazine cover somehow seems like an inevitable confluence of two things that, while on the surface are unrelated, are actually deeply intertwined together in some internet buzz kama sutra. I like that my instant reaction is somewhere between “yeah, that makes sense” and “hey, why the fuck not?”

I would suggest that Nicki make an appearance at the Gathering of the Juggalos but I’m afraid she’ll get poop and bottles thrown at her. Maybe she can use her prodigious ass as a makeshift riot shield. The possibilities = endless. Also, I get the feeling they might claim that this was supposed to be Keith Haring and not Juggalo inspired. But that just ain’t true, now is it? Whoop Whoop!

I’ll Bring the Paninis, You Bring the Acid…

Sunday, December 12th, 2010

This isn’t the first time we’ve written about Sweet Team here on the Bloglin and I don’t think it’s going to be the last. I just had to come on here and share the newest track from the Belgium duo. It’s a chill track featuring one of our favorite klowns Lil’ Panini and Sly Dog.

I don’t want to ruin the track by getting too deep into it with words, you just have to let the futuristic acid rap melt your brain away and transfer it to a distant galaxy. I know for a fact my boy Panini has been making big moves over in his native land, so either join the movement or get the fuck out of the way!

These Juggalo Pictures Are a Miracle, Whoop Whoop!

Saturday, December 11th, 2010

Everyone likes year end lists. They sum up 12 months of zeitgeist into informative, easily absorbable units. So it comes as no surprise that in 2010, the year of the Juggalo, we would find these annual compendiums covered in a thin but distinct layer of Faygo.

Buzzfeed has put up what they consider to be the 50 Best Juggalo Pictures of 2010. While I’m sure this feature was done solely for the purpose of entertainment and enjoyment, it also exemplifies the largest conundrum faced this year by non-juggalos who suddenly found themselves practically bombarded with the culture: are we laughing at them or with them?

Little bit of both probably. Looking through these photos, you really can’t help but chuckle. I mean, they are inherently funny. But I would be tempted to say that the best Juggalo pictures were those by the Shaltzes that we featured in 350 Broadway last month. Whereas these photos come from a place of ridicule (though for the most part equal fault goes to the subject as the photographer), the Shaltzes were mining more interesting territory by trying to accurately capture a more even handed look at the Juggalo.

The fact is, there are a humongous number of Juggalo’s, more even than you think. Their sudden ubiquity is not a coincidence, rather a side affect of their ever growing numbers. They can be quite interesting beyond the Hatchetman tattoos, floppy boobs, and crudely painted signs/faces. But, y’know, that stuff’s pretty good too.

Juggalos, Don’t Be Dicks!!! Let’s Give a Fuck This Time of Year, K?

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

How can anyone not love Sweet Sugar Slam? Necksnappa supreme. Now think about Violent J hittin’ that. Crawlin all on top of Sweet Sugar Slam each and every night. But seriously though, is this not the greatest promo for a toy drive ever? This puts Toys For Tots to shame!

It starts off incredible and then just gets progressively more amazing as it goes along. While no, it isn’t “Miracles,” it is still pretty fucking amazing in its own right. And best of all it’s a worthy addition to maintaining Juggalos as the hot shit meme of 2010. Still don’t believe me? Just watch it. Maybe this choice screen cap will entice you…

With the tags fags…with the tags…. That’s how you gotta donate shit. Think about the kids! Don’t give them no used shit!!! Nobody want’s your dirty used shit brah. These kids have it bad enough already.

Wanna help out? Email toydrive@psychopathicrecords.com and seriously, don’t be a dick this time of year.

Those of you interested in putting a small Juggalo keepsake in your home, rejoice! We’ve put the entire show online for purchase. Imagine waking up and walking into your living room every morning and being greeted by that image up above? Absolutely incredible.

You can sit and drink your morning coffee while zoning out on all the intricate details inside that photo. I guarantee you’ll have a smile on your face for the rest of the day (no pun intended). All of these prints and the artist proofs are an impressive 24″ x 26″. If you need something to make a statement in your home and be the talk of your next dinner party, these guys right here. But art don’t come cheap and above all else these beautiful pictures are art.

For those of us with lighter pockets, there’s of course “The Juggalo” T-shirt a more affordable keepsake of The Shaltzes’ incredible show and work at our space. Plus you can totally make it look like you’re head is the head of the body on that shirt! The tee is available in black and white and features one of the shows more subtle shots of a belligerent elegance. “The Juggalo” will be up at our Brooklyn shop through early December. Love it or hate it, it’s really one of those shows that needs to be seen in person to be fully appreciated, so do come by.

The Shaltzes Photo Recap From “The Juggalo” Opening Night Party!

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010

One of the great things about having a photo exhibit is knowing that those photographers are going to end up taking some awesome photographs documenting the opening party. These are all photo from the Shaltzes which included both Jason, his sister Carrie and their Dad taking turns behind the lens during the evening. So it was very much a family affair. You can view their entire 60+ gallery of images on their facebook page.

As I mentioned previously it was  pretty crazy night. Some 200+ people were packed in and out of our store during the entire evening… it was pretty intense. Hipsters intermingled with Juggalos and both Jason and Carrie were great hosts speaking about their work with every Juggalo  who came out to the event. Some kids traveled as far out as North Carolina for this! Kev Buc also brought Violent J’s actual JCW Tag Team Championship belt to display. We hope everyone had a good time and those who came to NYC just for this took advantage of their time in the city. Woop woop!

“The Juggalo” by The Shaltzes Opens Tomorrow, Nov 5th @ 350 Broadway

Thursday, November 4th, 2010

We’re psyched to announce our next exhibition opening on November 5th at 350 Broadway, “The Juggalo”, a photo series by The Shaltzes. The New York City based brother/sister team will present a photo-journalistic cross-section of Juggalo culture, giving insight as to what it represents and why it has a significant spot in music history. Jason Shaltz, a Flint, Michigan native and longtime fan of Psychopathic Records, visited ten cities across America in a three week span to capture the face of the most misunderstood fan in musical history: The Juggalo.

The word “Juggalo” is used to describe any one of the members of the Insane Clown Posse‘s countless fans whose obsessive worship of the rap duo and their associated acts reaches cultish levels of devotion. The Insane Clown Posse, commonly referred to as ICP, are two rappers who paint their faces so that they look like evil clowns and make songs that are dark and at the same time very funny.

They’ve sold millions of records and become more and more popular every year despite a complete and total lack of support from television, radio or respected music journalists. In the past few years mainstream media has seemed to finally notice that the Insane Clown Posse are nothing like what they thought they were.

Some people think that Juggalos are some kind of cult. Utah Police classify them as a gang. They’re just a collection of people who like the Insane Clown Posse and come to their shows wearing clownpaint, splashing Faygo around chanting. Beyond those basic elements they’re all individuals. They sure look good in photos and we’re stoked on this show.

Our stereo is most definitely going to be bumping Psychopathic classics all night long and we’ll even be serving up Faygo cocktails as refreshments! We hope you all join in the spirit and done some face paint to express your inner Juggalo. Need some help in applying? Boom, we got you!

We hope to see a good deal of you and i you’re a Juggalo in the Tri-State area get your ass down here! All we ask is that you keep the Faygo showers to outside.
