“The Juggalo” by The Shaltzes Opens Tomorrow, Nov 5th @ 350 Broadway

Thursday, November 4th, 2010

We’re psyched to announce our next exhibition opening on November 5th at 350 Broadway, “The Juggalo”, a photo series by The Shaltzes. The New York City based brother/sister team will present a photo-journalistic cross-section of Juggalo culture, giving insight as to what it represents and why it has a significant spot in music history. Jason Shaltz, a Flint, Michigan native and longtime fan of Psychopathic Records, visited ten cities across America in a three week span to capture the face of the most misunderstood fan in musical history: The Juggalo.

The word “Juggalo” is used to describe any one of the members of the Insane Clown Posse‘s countless fans whose obsessive worship of the rap duo and their associated acts reaches cultish levels of devotion. The Insane Clown Posse, commonly referred to as ICP, are two rappers who paint their faces so that they look like evil clowns and make songs that are dark and at the same time very funny.

They’ve sold millions of records and become more and more popular every year despite a complete and total lack of support from television, radio or respected music journalists. In the past few years mainstream media has seemed to finally notice that the Insane Clown Posse are nothing like what they thought they were.

Some people think that Juggalos are some kind of cult. Utah Police classify them as a gang. They’re just a collection of people who like the Insane Clown Posse and come to their shows wearing clownpaint, splashing Faygo around chanting. Beyond those basic elements they’re all individuals. They sure look good in photos and we’re stoked on this show.

Our stereo is most definitely going to be bumping Psychopathic classics all night long and we’ll even be serving up Faygo cocktails as refreshments! We hope you all join in the spirit and done some face paint to express your inner Juggalo. Need some help in applying? Boom, we got you!

We hope to see a good deal of you and i you’re a Juggalo in the Tri-State area get your ass down here! All we ask is that you keep the Faygo showers to outside.

Мишка Presents RX’s Strictly 4 My Ninjas!

Wednesday, November 3rd, 2010

So hopefully you all by now know about our show this Friday night at the Brooklyn shop? “The Juggalo” by the brother/sister duo of The Shaltzes offer some truly incredible glimpses in the world of the Juggalos. In honor of the show we enlisted Rx from Philly’s Subdivision to craft us a very special (and informative) mix to celebrate. This mix basically plays like an NPR show about ICP. It’s pretty awesome. Here is Rx’s take on it:

There are only two kinds of people in this world: juggalos and juffalos. Strictly 4 My Ninjas, my exclusive mix for Мишка, is a collection of nothing less than the finest in wicked, Down-With-The Clown anthems. The mix features classics and rarities from Insane Clown Posse themselves, other Psychopathic Records artists and cousins once removed from the hatchet riding family. Pop a Faygo and turn it up, my ninja – woop woop!

Shit basically already has some Juggalos upset over what Rx included, excluded and how he pronounced Esham. A win-win for everyone I say!

Мишка Presents “The Juggalo” by The Shaltzes, Nov 5th @ 350 Broadway

ICP Presents: Operation Shock In Autum

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

Since things have cooled off from this years Gathering of the Juggalos festival we haven’t heard much from your favorite duo of wicked clowns. Well they are back to bring you the news and happenings within the Psychopathic Records realm. It’s a change from the format of the previous Weekly Freekly Weekly and Hatchet Happenings they used to provide news with. This time around they are declaring war on the mainstream!

This video is chock full of tour info, upcoming projects, and wrestling tidbits. It’s also full of some bad acting and cheesy graphics that we all know and love. I hope I can make it to ICP’s Old Shit Tour at the end of October. Maybe the powers to be at Мишка will show me some LoLuv and give a ninja the day off, -wink-…

Revenge of the Losers: The Village Voice Has Much Clown Love!

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

As some of you New York ninjas may have already have noticed, The Village Voice put ICP on the cover of their newest issue for a story about this year’s Gathering of the Juggalos festival called “Revenge of the Losers.” It’s a comprehensive look into the festival, it’s fans and everything involved in putting it on. It’s a great read whether you love or hate ICP.

The Gathering of the Juggalos is an annual summer pilgrimage for people who know they are among the most hated people on earth. Nestled deep in the Illinois woods, the Gathering is “the biggest family reunion on the planet” for the “most misunderstood people of all time” (their superlatives).

United for four days in one place from around the country, the Juggalos testify to conjuring a magical solidarity that is, according to one of the event’s inspirations, a 38-year-old father of two famously known as Violent J, “What I imagine it’s like for the Muslims to visit the Holy Land of Mecca.”
Except here, there’s a Ferris wheel.

Continue reading the rest of the article online. Or if you’re in NY track down a free hard copy of the issue, it shouldn’t be too hard!

I personally enjoyed the article and was actually glad they gave the whole “scene” a fair shake… unlike most articles who just shit and laugh on it from the outside. If you enjoyed this article, I suggest picking up Violent J’s autobiography Behind the Paint. OR If you work at Мишка and want to borrow it, let me know!

Since this has hit the streets I wonder if hipsters around the area will start wearing face paint and throw faygo? Only time will tell I suppose…

Fuck “Miracles!” Come 2 “Juggalo Island” With a Brand Spankin’ New ICP Video!

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

So by now I’m sure you’ve all seen the videos for IN YO FACE and the ever so popular Miracles. Well I have the third official video from the last ICP album Bang Pow Boom! entitled “Juggalo Island”! This is hot off the presses and was filmed on location at the Juggalo utopia know as The Gathering of The Juggalos!

Why ICP seems to pick the worst songs for videos as of late I will never understand, but hey the video is kinda neat since it was filmed with the fans throughout the festival. The video is full of faygo, fat kids, and some special guests. Leave your hate or LoLuv below…

So I Watched Insane Clown Posse’s Big Money Rustlas…

Friday, August 27th, 2010

After 10 years in the making Insane Clown Posse’s Big Money Rustlas is finally here! Many juggalos, much like myself never actually thought this movie would see the light of day when it was teased to us in late 2000, but the clowns finally delivered. Sadly all this wait was mainly for nothing, as Big Money Rustlas is mostly a disappointment.

Don’t get me wrong, it has some positives as ICP knows how and does caters to their fan base within the film.  There are lots of inside jokes, cameos, references, etc, etc that the normal viewer wouldn’t get or really care about, but any self respecting ninja will find pretty satisfying. It also has far better production value than there first foray into film, 2000′s Big Money Hustlas. But overall, Big Money Rustlas is basically the same movie as Hustlas with the Wild, Wild West replacing a backdrop of New York City.

The cast is hardly the A list crowd, but features all of the Psychopathic camp along with the likes of Jason Mewes, Ron Jeremy, Tom Sizemore, Brigitte Nielsen, Vanilla Ice, Todd Bridges, Dustin Diamond and a slew of wrestling legends in what’s mostly a slapstick comedy riddled with dick and fart jokes.

Big Baby Chips (Violent J) runs the town of Mud Bug with his henchmen Dusty Poot (Monoxide) and Raw Stank (Jamie Madrox) via a gambling ring. A new sheriff comes to town by the name of Sugar Wolf (Shaggy 2 Dope) to try and clean up the town in the name of his dead father. As I said, it’s pretty much the same exact plot as BMH only revamped to a different time and place. The movie definitely has a few funny moments, but lacks a lot of the originality that the first outing had. If you are a fan of ICP and can keep up with all the Easter eggs littered in this for the Juggalo faithful then give it a whirl because you’ll probably get a kick or two out of it. But I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who merely gets a kick out of “Miracles” video or is intrigued by the meme that ICP has become. I doubt you’ll be able to get through it.

The movie has been out for about a week and ICP is already talking about their next movie project. Twiztid always steals the show in these movies, so lets hope whatever ICP decides to do next either prominently features or is a vehicle for Jamie Madrox and Monoxide.

Driven by Boredom Hits The Gathering of the Juggalos 2010! (Totally NSFW!)

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

The Bloglin doesn’t have a budget to just send someone down to The Gathering to document it for us… Believe me I tried! Thankfully there’s Igor from Driven by Boredom who’s basically family and was already down there for the Village Voice.

Igor just uploaded a ton of photos from his stay at this year’s Gathering, which will hopefully not be it’s last! Woop! Woop!

Head over to his site for his full 2010 Gathering of the Juggalos gallery!

Down With the Clowns…

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

Sometimes I think we forget just how long Insane Clown Posse and the Dark Carnival have been around and stirring controversy. A Bloglin reader forwarded me this old comic from a 1997 issue of Spin for us… which by the way if you didn’t know, A whole back catalog of Spin magazine are now viewable for free on Google Book. But I digress…

The Family’s always been vilified, long before their innocent pondering about “magnets” to the chaos of this year’s Gathering. I forgot that just a few months after it’s release the Great Milekno was recalled by Hollywood Records (AKA Disney) for inappropriate content. So why don’t you take 10 minutes and enjoy this rather critical (and sometimes scathing) comic by Mike Rubin and Mark Dancey from 13 years ago examining the who, what and whys of ICP’s popularity.

Thanks to Ryan O’Conner for the heads up and trip down memory lane.

Tom Green Visits The Gathering of the Juggalos!

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

So by know I’m sure you all have heard that Tila Tequilla didn’t get showered with love by the family at this years Gathering… so there’s really no reason to rehash that old news! I do however have this video from Tom Green’s adventures at this year’s Gathering.

I don’t about you but I fucking love Matt Richardson and all I want to do is get high on Mama Gypsy’s Space Cakes and listen to him speak for the rest of my life. I’m not even joking.

We’ll hopefully have some pics from this year’s Gathering from some of our insiders to post early next week *fingers crossed.* I am however getting some sad reports that due to the stabbing and the Tila Tequilla incident that this might be the last Gathering ever… I truly hope that’s not the case. Lots of love to our resident Juggalo, Kev Buc for passing this along to us. Woop Woop!
