The Мишка Winter Sale: 40% Off Online & In-Store!

8-bit Gifs of Simon Skulls can only mean one thing: our Winter Sale is back! Despite the fact that it seems like winter just got started (especially for those of us on the east coast) our next batch of clothes is coming up sooner than you think. To give you the chance to get in on any items you wish you had from our Holiday collection, but just couldn’t pull together the scratch for, we’re giving you 40% off online and in our stores.

Neato! Now that it’s finally jacket weather (global cooling, I swear! Did you go outside today?) it’s time for you to get your hands on the Forcefield Toggle Coat, or if you’re feeling a little more spartan, the Predator Utility Jacket. At 40% off, who can say no? Already bought one? Buy another damnit, this is America! If that’s not your speed either, then there’s still a bevy of hats, tees, shirts, sweaters, and accessories. The sale is on now, so get crackin’!

No exchanges or returns on marked down items unless you are shipped a defective item. Sorry!

Steady Peddlin’: A Mirage? No, A Collage!

Sunday, January 22nd, 2012

Oversized Adder Collage T-Shirt ($32.00 $22.40)

The Oversized Death Adder is one of my absolute favorite T-shirts we do. It’s iconic, imposing, scares children, excites badass children, will get you weird looks/questions on the street, and has been known to provide its wearers with superpowers. Promise. This season, however, we decided that just the straight up Death Adder wasn’t enough. No: the public demanded even more. Well here’s the perfect thing to get your grubby little mitts on. Just kidding. Your mitts aren’t grubby. You have beautiful hands. I love you. Shirt?

The Mishka mascot collage actually came about by complete accident, much like penicillin, electricity, or the genetic experiment that spawned Guy Fieri. Right around the time we first started making stickers, we were approached by one of our interns who happened to have been a scientist in the former Soviet Union. He suggested we use an adhesive of his own devising that would save us around 10 cents per sticker which, if you know your profit margins, is quite the deal. We cooked some of it up, and were happily painting it onto printouts of all our mascots when we realized that the intern had accidentally given us the recipe for a contact explosive. And by realized I mean were all sent flying in a massive explosion. My Pal The Crook landed way across the street. I found myself lodged in a wall. That’s how I got my claw arm. Once the dust had settled, however, we saw that the blast had left a massive collage of all the stickers all over the ceiling. It comes in Black and Charcoal.

Class Cutter Canvas Jacket

Swarm Windbreaker

Lamour Keep Watch MA-1

Lamour Bomber

Lamour Bomber Lining Detail

Hog’s Breath Denim Jacket

What can I say, we’re excited and we want to share all the new stuff with you. Can you blame us? I mean look at it! You’ve already gotten a peek at the Snapbacks and Fitteds for the ever closer Spring ’12 collection, and now here’s a little taste of the jackets. Who doesn’t love Spring jacket weather? You still get to layer but you don’t have to be cold. It’s perfect. Take, for instance, the Class Cutter Canvas Jacket, a light black button jacket with great details like a striped lining, “Keep Watch” chest embroidery and a red welt zip pocket. Just the thing to throw on over a tee to face that Spring sun.

If you prefer to get around on two wheels during the Spring, then you should be checking out the Swarm Windbreaker, with the nylon shell, splashes of color that’ll make you stand out, and a reflective logo patch on the back to keep you fly, while keeping you safe. Next up is a double dose of dopeness from Lamour Supreme, who left his mark on two of our jackets this season. The Lamour Keep Watch MA-1 has a satin-finish nylon shell, and features a chest patch with one of our newest designs, Lamour’s Simon-pupiled take on the Keep Watch eyeball.

If you like your Lamour on the low then take a look at the Lamour Bomber, a classic bomber that comes in hunter green or black and features an allover print lining of Lamour’s finest, freakiest, and most fun work. You’ll be looking at the lining of your jacket all day! Finally, my most favorite of the bunch, the Hog’s Breath Denim Jacket. I’m a sucker for denim! The Hog’s Breath comes in indigo and vintage wash indigo and features contrasting shoulder panels and the fun little Keep Watch buttons. Feel free to wear that one every day. More previews to come soon.

Spring ’12 Preview: So Many Snapbacks

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

Death Adders Varsity Starter Snapback – Red/Black

Cyrillic Script Starter Snapback – Heather/Black

Olde School Starter Snapback – Black/Heather

Toga Party Snapback – Grey/Red

Past Time New Era Snapback

Fanatic Snapback – White/Black

Death Cap Snapback

D.E.A.T.H.® Snapback

So in case you didn’t notice, we started previewing our new collection, showing off all the New Era fitteds we cooked up for you. What I’m really stoked about though is the absolutely absurd amount of sick snapbacks we have in store for Spring ’12. I’m gettin’ the vapors just thinking about them. I’m gonna get right into it because the list is loooong. For simplicity and effectiveness, look no further than the Death Adders Varsity Starter Snapback. Or maybe the Cyrillic Script Starter Snapback, with the Keep Watch on the side. Dayumn.

And that’s it. Just kidding! For something new and olde, take a look at the Olde School Starter Snapback, featuring a scripted “M” in two colorways. For more font fun there’s the Toga Party Snapback, to let everyone know what fraternity you pledge. Speaking of frats, we also have the sports themed Past Time New Era Snapback. Perfect for the ballpark! If you’re even more devoted you can outfit yourself with the Fanatic Snapback, one of my faves.

Next we have a new design, the angry little poisonous Мишка psilocybin fellow, who we’ve dubbed the Death Cap, who is featured, fittingly, on the Death Cap Snapback. Finally, last but certainly not least, is the item that will certainly be adorning my skull this spring, the D.E.A.T.H.® Snapback. Yes please! I think it’s pretty safe to say we just ethered the snapback game. Look out for more previews soon.

Мишка Enters the Purple Box. Fresh.

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012

So a couple of weeks ago I put up an episode of BBox Radio‘s Fresh Out The Box, a Brooklyn based show that centered around up and coming rap. It featured Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire and was generally dope. It’s hosted by Geng Grizzly and Note D, two awesome guys who invited one of our co-founders Mikhail AKA MP†C onto the show this week to talk about Мишка and music and whatnot.

The episode just went up, and you can check it out to get a little peek into the history of Мишка, including the time that the whole company was actually based in the same building the radio show is now filmed. Cool! You can also get a sweet preview of all of the releases we have coming up in the first part of 2012, from the likes of Western Tink, BBU!, Dark Sister, and more. Ch-ch-check it out.

Steady Peddlin’: The Old Gods Love Cyrillic Trails

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012

Cyrillic Trails Pullover Hoodie ($66.00 $46.20)

See the house. Its crumbling exterior, the way the mist parts delicately around its form, the tiny skittering life that flits in and out of the grey oak porch. Smear the cobweb caul of the windows, put your palm to it and know its temperature. Know the house. Enter, and shudder at the smell. Sealed air, stale and dense, and something else. A faint sulphuric melody or a buzzy tickle of ozone, the taste leaking in behind your tongue, seeping from your fillings. It is quiet. Photographs on the walls oxidize and fade, their subjects staring back at you through rusted years. They said it was just a house.

Fish the key from your pocket, still moist from the grave soil, the metal gone soft underground, its black tassel wound around your wrist, vibrations of proximity jumping in your grip. It knows it is home. See the cellar door, feel its gaze. Trace the sigil inscribed upon it and feel the hollow writhing thing beyond. Believe the gateway. Use the key. It moves with ease and reveals a terrible heat, a polished stone stairwell, a drifting glow that leads you to the whited sepulcher. The chamber below the house is cavernous, and pale eyed beasts echo from its edges. Grey fingers like swollen worms grasp from the darkness. Do not stray from the path. You know the way to the ritual room.

Open your bag and feed its contents to the void. Fulfill your years of searching. The jeweled chalice. The stained blade. The gilded scale, heavy with earth from the low place. The hangman’s noose. The bell hat of the fool. The heart. Retrieve the coal and begin. Transcribe the ritual phrase on the radiant marbled rock. M: the first shrieks tear from beyond and a steady wind arrives. и: rumbling all around, a fine dust levitates from the ground in a perfect plane. ш: the walls beside you fall away and behind them infinite mirrored realms await. к: his hand guides your hand, the shades of companions lost along the way surround you. а: the word is formed. All things leave you except for the word. It’s deepening image trails in the light as you fall away into embrace. You can see forever. It comes in Grey and Navy.

Spring ’12 Preview: New Eras For the New Year

Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

Oversized Death Adder New Era – Navy

Oversized Death Adder New Era – Black

Keep Watch New Era – Royal Blue

Keep Watch New Era – Black

Lamour Keep Watch New Era

Mop Box New Era

Keep Watch Painter Cap

Death Adders Painter Cap

Boy does time fly when you’re constantly performing occult rituals to bring Yog-Sothoth back from the outer zones to function as keymaster to open the gate to R’lyeh. It seems like just yesterday that I was breaking down all the new headwear we had for Holiday ’11. But, as the world turns and the dimensional rift draws near, so does the drop date for our Spring 12 collection. You wanna check some of it out? Awww yeah.

Lets peep the New Era fitteds. As always, we’ve got brand new colorways of your old favorites, including a red & blue Oversized Death Adder and an absolutely killer Knicks palette on the Keep Watch Fitted. For even more Keep Watch action, we got Lamour Supreme to draw his own take on the bloody eyeball, incorporating a Cyco Simon pupil to form the Lamour Keep Watch New Era.

If you want to stay inside the box, then take a look at the Mop Box New Era, featuring everyone’s favorite evil bear in one of our favorite geometric shapes. Last but not least, we’ve got a serious dose of painters caps this season, the black & green Keep Watch New Era Painter Cap and and a seriously sinister Death Adders New Era Painter Cap. Look out for more Spring 12 previews throughout the coming weeks. It’s gonna be super real.

Yes Time For Mike Jones Pictures, No Time For Love

Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

Wowee zowee, wasn’t the opening night of Mishka Art Director Mike JonesNo Time For Love a blast? What’s that? Not all of you were there?? Shame on you! As the many guests who were can attest, it was an amazing party full of friends, beverages, spirited games of Gin Rummy, art, zines, the comedic stylings of Earthworm Jim and much much more*.

Luckily, our photographer Tara was there to photograph the whole event so you can get a taste of what you missed, plus a bonus look at Mike Jones’ art, all of which (well, at least the stuff that didn’t sell on the spot) will be available on our online store, along with Zines featuring printings of all the pieces. There’s Mike Jones himself, cheezin’ in some plaid in front of his work, including the amazing KISS/TMNT figurines. There’s a full gallery of photos after the jump.

*some of those may be lies. Maybe not though.

Store Spotting: We’re Big in Russia

Friday, January 13th, 2012

Meet Pavel Lilienfeld. He’s a television commercial producer who lives and works in Moscow. He also happens to be a big Мишка fan, and stopped by our 350 Broadway store on his way through NYC.

We always love to get fans from around the world coming in, especially ones from the mother country. But Pavel brought something extra cool with him.

See, Pavel was recently working on a commercial for a Russian mobile phone company called Tele2. At the end of the commercial, there’s a shot of a bunch of young hip Russians hanging out in a bar, presumably enjoying the full service they are receiving from Tele2. The creative director, however, didn’t think that the guy in the shot was wearing cool enough clothes.

Enter Pavel, who was wearing a Oversized Adder T-Shirt. Because it’s Russia, the director demanded Pavel give the actor the shirt off his back, and now we’re in a Russian telecommunications commercial. We’re fuckin’ famous yo!
