Straight From The Bay, It’s The Мишка Summer 2012 Teaser Video!

Thursday, May 17th, 2012

Looking for a little something extra to get you through this Thursday? Well, well, well, do we have just the thing for you. Over the past few weeks you’ve seen some selective previews of our Summer 2012 Collection, but we’re taking it into the next level now, way up into the clouds. The world is finally ready for the Summer 12 Lookbook Teaser Video! I’m no scientist, but it seems to me that this planet will never be the same again.

For this installment we headed to the Bay Area, enlisting Bloglin contributor and all around Мишка man Zachg to round up a who’s who in the San Francisco/Oakland scene. Decked out in all our brand new gear, these 9 artists hit the streets of The City with Brandon Tauszik there to shoot and edit the whole thing. From Мишка veterans Main Attrakionz to new friends like master twerker Chippy Nonstop, Antwon and Bad Slorp, and production duo Friendzone, the Lookbook has it all.

Whether you’re getting blazed at the scenic view with The Jealous Guys, crate digging with Anticon founding member Jel, skating with collective the Ontask Family, lounging out with Quelle Chris, or partying up with Trill Team 6, you can rest assured you’ll look great in something from Мишка Summer 12. Peep the video, start picking your favorite items, and lookout for the lookbook to drop next week. And oh yeah: the collection? It’s available now.

Summer 12 Preview: Snapbacks on Backs on Backs

Wednesday, May 16th, 2012

Cycotiks Starter Snapback

K.W. Crest Starter Snapback

D.A. Pinnacle Snapback

Cartoon Crest Snapback

Black Dog Trucker Hat

Мишка Summer 2012 Snapbacks Available Now!

Welcome back to preview town folks, where we’re continuing on down the line to one of my most favoritest categories, the Snapback! We took a look at our small run of New Era Fitteds already, but if you were wondering where all that extra hat creation energy went, well here’s your answer. We’ve got a bodacious bounty of hats for you this season, so many that we couldn’t even fit them all into this one preview. You’ll have to go into our online store – where they’re available for purchase right now! – to see them all.

Let’s take a closer look at a smattering of choices right now. I would say favorites, except they’re all my favorites. To go along with our Cycotiks B-Ball Jersey, we’ve got the Cycotiks Starter Snapback. Nothing says swaggery outfit like aesthetic unity folks. This snapback features a nylon crown to make it stand out from the pack. Then we’ve got takes on two of our classic icons, the Keep Watch Crest and the Death Adder, here presented (in multiple color ways) with pinstripes and in the D.A. Pinnacle design, with bold wraparound text. A while back we introduced the Cartoon Keep Watch character, that cute little devil, and you know he’s making an appearance this season on a simple and summery snapback. Finally we have the Black Dog design, which in addition to being featured on that handsome trucker hat, will be a part of other items as well.

Summer ’12 Preview: A Battalion of Tanks!

Monday, May 14th, 2012

Scavenger Hunt Tank

Tiger Camo Keep Watch Tank

Daydream Nation Tank

Cycotiks B-Ball Jersey

Beast of The East Tank

Another day another dollop of previews for our Summer 2012 collection. I took a left turn somewhere in there. It’s a Summer collection – y’know: for Summer – and so you know it’s going to be sporting some sporty tank tops that are as spiffy as they are splendid. Help me. You can see them all bunched up together there at the top, like an Olympic logo except instead of sucking it rules. Мишка: the whole world agrees on it.

Let’s get right into it with one of the new designs that we’re going to be featuring a lot in this collection, Scavenger Hunt. This pattern design has a great hand drawn look and shows off some of our favorite Brooklyn sights (check out the Simon riding a fixie) and we’re going to have it not only on this great tank, but also a poplin shirt AND a 5-Panel hat. Snazzy. For a more classic Мишка look, there’s the Keep Watch Tank, here with a Tiger Camo print. Aggressive. Speaking of an American Flag where the stars are purple weed leaves (walk with me…), here’s the Daydream Nation Tank. I love when we incorporate the stars and bars (our Amerikana items from years past are some of my faves) and this tank is the tops.

For all you sporty folk out there, we’re doing a basketball jersey again! Sweet! Let everyone know you play on the best team around, the Cycotiks! This jersey also comes in white, so you’re good to go, home or away. Finally – and I just love this one to bits – there’s the bestial allover printed Beast From The East Tank, that looks like it’s ready to rip from your chest and devour the head of your enemies. And that, my friends, is what Summer is all about. Look for them all soon!

Мишка Mixtape Flashback: The Death Set’s Artificially Sweetened

Monday, May 14th, 2012

Welcome back to Мишка Mixtape Flashbacks! Here, come take a stroll with me into the vault. Here’s where we keep the demon spawn – they’re particularly rowdy in front of new guests! – oh, and just over there is the dark energy stone that powers the Tupac Hologram – it’s very #rare – here are some pinball machines (KISS!), and – ahh, here we are – just what I was looking for: The Death Set‘s Artificially Sweetened! The prized possession.

One of our most beloved mixes, Artificially Sweetened was lost to the world for a bit after MegaUploadGate, much to the anger of the internet, but we’ve tracked down a physical copy and now all 43 tracks of that non-stop mile-a-minute mix are available for free stream and download on our Bandcamp. Be warned: it may cause your parties to be up to 3000% better. Tis intense.

From the awesome cover graphic (which made its way onto a popular shirt) to the party thrown for its release, to every crazy mashup and freakout on the mix, we loved everything about Artificially Sweetened. The Death Set, Brooklyn badasses via Australia, are immensely talented, immensely nice, and immensely fun. I mean, just listen to this mix (which features original material, mega hits, deep cuts, and pretty much everything else) and tell me you wouldn’t want to hang out with the people responsible. You just couldn’t.

Steady Peddlin’: Hot In Herre

Sunday, May 13th, 2012

Shenanigans Tank ($32.00)
Toga Part Snapback ($30.00)
Vladimir Denim Shorts ($83.00)

According to the internet, it’s 78 degrees outside in New York right now. By my calculations, I think you Earth dwelling humans (we Mole People never leave the central hive, of course) should all be outside with brown bagged tall boys grasped firmly in your 5 fingered hands, skipping down city blocks and maybe also having a dog. You should also probably be doing it wearing this outfit. Did I say probably? I meant definitely. Most definitely.

When it’s super hot out, picking the right gear is of the utmost importance, if only because you’ll have none of the opportunities to layer and disguise like you would in winter. Each and every item (and there will only be a few) must be just right. Don’t worry. We’re here for ya. As much as I hate to say it, the Shenanigans graphic is pretty damn awesome (go 76ers!) and it looks just splendid on a fresh white tank top. Then there’s the Vladimir Denim Shorts, with the gingham accents that make them perfect for spring. Finally there’s the Toga Party Snapback, in a navy and gray colorway to give your look some contrast. F-f-f-fresh. Go forth friends, and be merry in the warmth.

An Eyeball Shaped Мишка Rug You Say?

Sunday, May 13th, 2012

Keep Watch Rug ($50.00)

Is your floor game proper? Take a good hard look at the area around your feet right now, and make the tough admission: it could probably be doing a little better. Don’t worry, we’re always there to help out a friend. We’re like your friendly neighborhood Spiderman, except we give you more than one. Beat that Peter Parker. Beat that.

This new Keep Watch area rug is the best thing ever. Objectively. Look at how cute one of our office dogs looks on it. Yeah, we have multiple office dogs, and they’re all super cute. What of it. It’s 36” in diameter, so it can go anywhere from your bathroom to your kitchen to rolled up in your bed next to you because you love it so much. Your choice.

It’s About To Get Toothy Wavy Up In Here

Friday, May 11th, 2012

We’ve been slowly but steadily dropping tracks and videos from Toothy Wavy, and its finally arriving on the scene next Tuesday, May 15th. Toothy Wavy is a collaborative project between Machina Muerte head Isaiah Toothtaker, incarcerated rapper Max B, and production duo The Hood Internet. Toothtaker, in addition to rapping on the tracks and providing hooks, also helmed most of the videos (of which there was one for each track), while The Hood Internet handled all of the beats, and Max B recorded his verses through the prison phone line.

The whole project is a lesson in collaboration through difficult borders, and the result is nothing short of awesome. That’s the extra special cover art above, designed by Doze. For more goodies, there’s also going to be the previously announced Free Max B Toothy Wavy t-shirt, which will become available on our site when the album drops. So mark your calendars, and always remember: Free Max B!

Love Music? Then Write About It For The Bloglin!

Friday, May 11th, 2012

Hey remember that Mark Wahlberg movie Rock Star where he has the doofy hair and gets a chance to become the new lead singer for his favorite band? Or that Mark Wahlberg movie Invincible where he has the doofy hair and gets a chance to become the new wide receiver for his favorite football team? Well, this is gonna be just like that, except it won’t make you want to blind yourself (like Mark Wahlberg did to a guy whilst on PCP. True story, look it up). We’re looking for new music writers for the Bloglin, and we want you! *cue sparklers*

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, there’s a lot of music review on our site as we want to keep you as updated as possible on what’s going on, whether it be mainstream or fully underground, and we could really use some more reviewers, especially if you have a specialized taste. Fans of electronic music in particular, we’re looking at you to take our EDM writing to the next level, both through reviews and general coverage of the scene and emergent artists. If this sounds appealing to you, please e-mail us here. Then we can be friends… FOREVER!!!

Spencer Nuzzi’s Rolling With Мишка

Friday, May 11th, 2012

The web certainly isn’t short of up-and-comers’ skate footage nowadays. The skate nerds over here at Мишка can get tuckered out watching the same repetitive malarkey day after day. Fortunately enough for us there’s always a gem to come along and make us want to hop on our dusty boards and have a good time. Here we have Spencer Nuzzi, a Santa Monica transplant from the depths of New Jersey.

I had noticed after watching his OVERdose part that this kid skates like he’s constantly at Disneyland. Seriously though, bench combos that I haven’t seen since Ronnie Creager’s ‘Menikmati’ part? Why did that stop happening in the first place? In short this kid rips and with originality to boot. Spencer also rides for Birdhouse, Theeve Trucks, Armourdillo, and CCS. Check out his introduction clip, get hyped, and for cripes sake have fun on your board.

Bang The Machine

Punk’s Been Dead

Menace II Destroy

Мишка Soft Tees

High 5

Summer 12 Tees Available Now!

They say that less is more. But remember, they also said the Earth was flat. People are dum-dums. That’s why we’re giving you more – always more! – previews of our upcoming Summer 12 collection. You’ve already seen New Era Fitteds, and here’s a eye-flutteringly dope dose of tees, all of which are available online now. Bonus. I’m just gonna get right into the good stuff with one of my personal favorite designs, Bang The Machine. I mean come on, what could be better than Street Fighter II and Мишка.

Everyone knows the SFII machine is my best friend, and now I can capture that love on a shirt. True happiness becomes me. Not that there isn’t some stiff competition from graphics like the boisterously bratty Punk’s Been Dead or O-Dog’s favorite Menace II Destroy. With the sound of ice cream trucks ringing out joyously across the city, now is the perfect time to order up the Mishka Soft Tees graphic, which comes on tees and tanks. Finally, to close out this preview, there’s an item from our Mishka archives, the holy/unholy partnership of the High 5 Tee. Get’em all now and look for more previews (including more tees!) soon.
