Patch Up Your Life With Some Help From Мишка

Brand New Мишка Patches Available Now!

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in this crazy, some might even say “zany” lives of ours, it’s that if your patch game is sewed up proper, then all of your other problems will melt away like the most Ark-exposed of Nazi heads. The ultimate embroidered palliative, the patch will take any garment, or even you’re own flesh if you’re feeling insane, and kick it up to the next level of greatness.

We haven’t exactly updated the store with new patches in a while, but that changes TODAY. Because right now, all 12 of those brand new patches are available for your purchasing pleasure, all at the low price of $6.99. Personally, I’m quite happy to see the Kill With Power Triangle and Lobster Roll graphics make an appearance after chilling in the background for a bit. I wonder if I can just attach all these together into one garment made entirely of patches…

Steady Peddlin’: Blue & Purple, Blue & Purple…

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012

Lamour Keep Watch MA-1 ($206.00)
Society Of The Snake Tee ($32.00)
Mop Box New Era ($47.00)
Alexei Selvage Denim Indigo ($158.00)

I know, I know, it’s not technically “blue” or “purple” but it just rolled off the tongue a little bit more than “magenta & seafoam.” And I really wanted to work that Wiz Khalifa reference into the post title. I really, really did. I have a secret you guys: I’m a time traveller who’s come forward from the summer of 2010 to write this post. It only took me two years to get here, but it was worth it. This strange and unfamiliar future is better than I ever could have imagined. Phones are slightly thinner. The economy, slightly better. There’s no more Redemption Island on Survivor. That was always a bullshit twist and the producers knew it.

Plus there’s all these great new Мишка clothes, which I liked so much that I put together this outfit. Man, I’m really deep in this bit right now. This color friendly outfit starts its journey of hues with the Lamour Keep Watch MA-1, featuring that great new Keep Watch designed by Lamour Supreme that is always prepared to kick some ass. But the intimidation factor doesn’t stop there. Far from it! Pulling back from the Мишка Archives (closer to the time I come from because I am a… oh nevermind that wasn’t going anywhere), there’s the Society of The Snake Tee.

If you’re wearing this on the street and see anyone make a complex hand gesture, don’t worry. They’re just recognizing another member of the group. For even more Мишка iconography, we’ve got the Mop Box New Era, that features a Bear Mop so fearsome that it had to imprisoned in this little box, just like a cenobite or Zod. Hell, even the Alexei Selvage Denim has a fun Keep Watch patch on the back pockets. So get out into this brave new world, and do it looking good!

Ball So Hard, This Shirt Cray

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012

NY Ballin Tee ($32.00)

The city is alive with the thrill of sport my friends. As several of our teams have seized or are on the road to claiming some of our greatest trophies, and so we thought it was the perfect time to bring back an old graphic, NY Ballin, in some brand new colorways. And trust me, the NY Ballin will definitely win at least one game in the playoffs.

This new royal blue colorway is the best way for you to pay tribute to a team that’ll take you on an emotional roller coaster ride, but will at least try to win you a stuffed animal at the end. As long as they’re not too busy playing the “punching through glass” game or discount double checking. So get’em while they’re hot (and before the second round starts…) Available in Black and Blue.

Мишка Mixtape Flashback: Star Eyes’ H4x0R M1X

Sunday, April 29th, 2012

Imma boutta put the internet on blast, because we’ve got a brand new Bloglin feature coming right at you. As I’m sure you saw (you saw, right? You better have) we devoted our High Five this week to running down what we thought were some of the most memorable mixes from the long running Keep Watch series. But whilst doing that, I was reminded of all the other great mixes we’ve put out over the years that weren’t branded with the KW.

And so the Мишка Mixtape Flashback was born, a space where every weekend we’ll highlight a super special Мишка Mixtape from the days of yore, all primed and ready for you to reintroduce to your cochlea. We’re trying to go relatively way back with these, so we’re starting out with a collection from all the way in 2008. And four years might as well be a century in internet time!

Right in the ides of March 2008, Star Eyes dropped the amazingly industrial H4x0R M1X on the unsuspecting world, over an hour of throbbing, boot stomping industrial and EBM that comes complete with some of the most badass cover art I’ve ever had the pleasure of beholding. As everyone knows, we have a long and happy relationship with the Trouble & Bass crew, including the crazily talented Star Eyes.

Vivian Host, the West Coast transplant who became an integral part of NYC’s heavy bass scene, was working with T&B at the time of this mix’s release, as they were dominating Brooklyn’s bass music scene. For a slightly different flavor, she cobbled together all her favorite industrial deep cuts. There were some other notable quotables about the H4x0R M1X, including the fact that it was the first of our mixs we offered for download (on the now defunct MegaUpload) as well the super-labor-intensive 133t speak bloglin article that accompanied it. Check that out here, and once again please enjoy Star Eyes’ 7H3 H4x0R M1X.

Put A New Мишка Ring On That Finger, Ya Heard?

Friday, April 27th, 2012

Prediction Pain Silver Ring ($350.00)

Imagine the amazing impression that bad boy would leave on someone’s face after you fed them a hefty knuckle sandwich? Hell, it’d probably be so cool they wouldn’t even be that mad about the reconstructive surgery they would most likely have to undergo. Until the bills came in I guess… Anyway, the point is, our fearless leader Greg Rivera (who’s birthday is today!) designed this awesome new super-duper limited ring. You would be a pitiable and foolish person were you not to buy it.

This sterling silver ring is size US 12, and there are only 5 of them, each one stamped and numbered. These are #veryrare, no foolin. We don’t necessarily do jewelry that often, but when we do you know it’s bound to be too legit. Not too legit to quit, because then we’d all be in real financial trouble, but right around that level of legit. Right on the border. The Prediction Pain Silver Ring is a knockout every time.

Old School Arcade Fun With Wavves, Weed, & Мишка

Friday, April 27th, 2012

Happy belated 4/20 motherfuckers! I meant that with love. Sorry, I’m really high. That’s not true actually I can’t smoke weed anymore it makes me think the government is watching me. Which they are. In honor of everyone’s favorite green plant, Vice and Wavves threw together this sweet lil’ video game called Weed Demon. It’s like Paperboy but instead of throwing the last vestiges of a dying business onto people’s doorsteps in a pantomime of a more innocent America, you’re dealing drugs.

Much more emblematic of our time, dont’cha think? Play as Nathan or Stephen as you bike (or skate) through the ‘burbs, the city and more, all the while avoiding various beasties designed by – yup - Мишка in collaboration with our friend Dennis Chow AKA GlamNation! Does this mean we can put video game studio on our resumes/business cards now? I submit that it most definitely does. So light one up and get your jollies with Weed Demon!

The High Five: Most Memorable Keep Watch Mixes

Thursday, April 26th, 2012

As the musical side of our brand grows ever larger, we’ve had a lot of opportunities recently to look back at all of the projects we’ve already been a part of. It was in this recollection that we all collectively noticed: “holy shit, have we really done thirty three Keep Watch Mixes?” Started way back in 2008, this regularly released series of party mixes has been our most enduring ongoing project. Spanning literally dozens of artists and dance genres, the Keep Watch Mixes have been party fuel par excellence.

Obviously they’re all our babies and we love them all. We believe each and every one to be of truly premium quality, and still listen to each with frequency. But there have certainly been some which stick out as the most memorable of the bunch, and we’d like to give a shout out to five of those today. I wish we had an article series called The High Thirty Three. But, unfortunately, we don’t. This is the High Five.

Honorable Mentions: Jokers of The Scene - Keep Watch Vol. I & Teki Latex - Keep Watch Vol. II

I would be remiss not to include the two mixes that started the whole thing off right. After all, you’re only as good as your first step. I’m pretty sure that’s not a real saying, but for the sake of this discussion I’m going to stand by it. The first of the the first was a banger from Canadian duo Jokers of The Scene. This was back when the mixes were supposed to be tied to specific events, and theirs was to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of their club night Disorganize. Needless to say, it got the job done.

Often it can be hard to live up the the promise of a premiere, but Paris’ Teki Latex did all that and a bag o’ chips with Keep Watch Vol. II, delivering a truly deep mix that belied a skilled hand both at digging through the crate and managing the deck (in this case, the digital deck as KW Vol II was one of Teki’s first experimentations using Ableton Live). These two really got us out of the gate super strong.

5. Trouble & Bass - Keep Watch Vol. VII

If there’s one thing that’s woven into our brand’s musical DNA as much as the Keep Watch Mixes, it’s our long standing and continually fruitful partnership with the Brooklyn based (zing!) Heavy Bass Champions of The World, the one and only Trouble & Bass crew. When we brought those two things together for the 7th edition of Keep Watch, some foundation shaking magic happened.

This mix is a fantastic summation of the supremely heavy bass sound that made T&B so renowned. Featuring appearances from the entirety of the crew, Keep Watch Vol. VII was a real “best of the best” as far as NY bass music in early 2009. Listening to it today… yeah, it seemed like a pretty damn good time.

—–

4. Congorock - Keep Watch Vol. IX

We had to include this one on the list, as when it came out it not only sounded great it also sounded so friggin’ new. At the time we wrote that “Congororck fuses together every conceivable genre in electronic music to create a sound all his own,” and little did we know that he would be one of the artists laying the groundwork for the EDM takeover that is still in full effect today.

Moving away from stratification and towards unity, this Keep Watch mix didn’t seem in the least bound in by genre, instead coming off as a joyous, delirious mish mash that you could never pin down. Even now it sounds like a whirlwind tour from dancefloor to dancefloor all over the world.

—–

3. Royal-T - Keep Watch Vol. XXXIII

Maybe it’s just because it’s still fresh in our mind, but I highly doubt it: Royal-T’s turn on the Keep Watch is a true grime masterpiece. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, we’ve been right obsessed with UK grime label Butterz lately (check out the t-shirt we made) and when an opportunity to do a KW with one of their artists arose, we were in like Flint.

The young Royal-T more than delivered, cooking up a pulse-pounding ride full to spilling with filthy riddims and massive grime tunes that still has our office going wild. Our Badman Shark has been quoted saying that 2012 is going to see a big resurgence in grime, and Royal-T will certainly be leading that charge.

—–

2. Skream - Keep Watch Vol. VI

I remember back before dubstep blew up, shockingly becoming one of the most popular musical genres in the world (that’s fair to say, right? Sorta?) I remember hearing Skream’s track “Midnight Request Line” and just basically having my mind blown. I wasn’t the most well versed in the UK electronic scene, and the dubstep I was familiar with was stuff like Burial, Kode9, and Pinch.

Skream’s stuff was just so heavy and dancy, but without sacrificing any of that grimy London mood of the Hyperdub artists. Listening to his Keep Watch mix makes me really nostalgic about a time when I was really getting into that kind of music and it all felt so new and cool, and as a result I just had to include Keep Watch Vol. VI on the list.

—–

1. Shiftee - Keep Watch Vol. XXIII

At the end of the day, a mix is not just a collection of tracks, but it’s the combination of those things into a larger singular unit. Shiftee’s turn on the decks had to number one just because of the immense skill this world champion DJ displayed putting this thing together. You can practically hear him panting in the background as his hands fly lightning fast from knob to slider to scratch.

In addition to the technical aspects, Shiftee was aces on the track selection, mixing of the moment hip hop with every kind of dance music under the sun and then chopping it all into an intoxicating mixture that hits as hard today as the day it dropped. Kudos to you Shiftee, and to all the artists who have contributed a Keep Watch mix. You all killed it!

What’re some of your favorites?

A New Мишка Be@rbrick To Color Your Collection!

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012

We’re not in Kansas anymore folks, and our recently released Be@rbrick model is getting the full color treatment. Just last December we let you know about our exciting inclusion in the 20th anniversary 23rd Series of Medicom’s iconic Be@rbrick’s. We had Lamour Supreme cook up a black and white design that featured all kinds of majorly monstrous Мишка imagery. The thing was a total blast to design, and no we’re taking it to the next level.

Available in select stores (including ours) starting May 12th, the Мишка x Medicom Toy 2012 Color Ver. 100% Be@rbrick is the perfect addition to your Be@rbrick collection, and will look especially snazzy next to its monochromatic counterpart. With vibrant tones like the magenta ears/brains, classic blue Keep Watch iris, and that crimson lightning bolt, this Be@rbrick is a real looker. Mark your calendars!

Keep Watch Gold Keychain ($15.00)

Hey look, we figured out a way to turn our Keep Watch Keychains into Gold Keep Watch Keychains. Boom, hundreds of years of misguided Medieval scientific experimentation, roasted. Turns out all it took was teaming up with Karmaloop. I guess Ye Olde Time Karmaloope was not around back then. The awesome new pendant will bling out your keys like whoa, and is available exclusively through us and Karmaloop.

Be warned however: having this keychain may cause you to compulsively have your keys out at all times just to show it off, so be prepared to say goodbye to two handed activities like swing dancing or playing peekaboo with your infant. Trust me, it’s worth it.

Congrats To The Winners of The Мишка Tumblr Contest!

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012

An epic battle that has gripped the hearts and minds of the nation since its commencement some weeks ago, The Мишка Worldwide Style Contest came to a thrilling finish last Thursday. We’ve spent the the ensuing days locked up in a safe room with representatives from PricewaterhouseCooper, the same firm responsible for calculating the Academy Award ballots, relentlessly poring over the little number under the post that tells you how many notes it has.

In retrospect, we probably could have saved a couple hundred thousand bucks there. Oh well, you live and you learn. The point is, the winners are here and those are the photos above. Let’s go through a quick rundown of the winners and their awesome prizes.

—–

3rd Place: thirtynineproblems106 Notes

Third place was definitely an unexpected turn, as the $50 of credit in our online store was actually won by a super cute french bulldog, presumably owned by Tumblr’r thirtynineproblems. Way to look outside of the box and collect 106 notes!

—–

2nd Place: lougzgee815 Notes

Second place, and $100 credit, was taken by a very fervent Мишка fan, the always welcome lougzgee, who threw together a great outfit featuring a bunch of Мишка and clocked in at an impressive 815 notes.

—–

1st Place: ohchuruudrew1,733 Notes

Finally, in first place was ohcharuuudrew, rocking a Keep Watch Pom Beanie and racking up a staggering 1,733 notes. Wowee zowee! Congratulations ohcharuuudrew, you just won $200 in Мишка store credit! Thanks to everyone for participating, we hope to do more of these in the future. For the winners, please e-mail us at this address for instructions on how to collect your spoils.
