Can you believe it? We’re at our twentieth Keep Watch Mix…. Wow! We’ve kept you guys entertained and in tune with a wide and wonderful world of electro/dance for the past two years now with what’s become not only our signature dance series, but something dance fans look forward to every 30 to 45 days. We’re incredibly proud of that.

So join us won’t you? Lets Take this hour-long journey through space on a b2b (back to back) live session recorded at the Rinse FM studios, courtesy of the London duo o the tips of everyone’s tongues, Night Slugs. Slip inside their world,  where you’ll be served and intoxicating cocktail made up of Tech-House, Tropical House, Grime and big bad bass lines sure to get your body moving.

This is a very special 20th edition made by the Slugs to celebrate the release of our Fall 2010 collection and features a selection of the duo’s latest tracks, remixes and of course choice cuts from their own Night Slugs record label. This is one mix you’ll have on repeat for days, trust me!

The Night Slugs (who are Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990)  first came into existence in early 2008 when, inspired by a variety of experimental club music from around the globe, the duo linked up to start a club night dedicated to a brand new hybrid sound. This new aesthetic fused international gutter house styles with London’s unique soundsystem heritage. The emphasis was on innovation, breaking new producers, debuting fresh tracks, uncompromising bass weight, and above all a functionalist dancefloor-friendly vibe.

The Night Slugs party quickly gained a reputation for being amongst the freshest in London. Two years down the line, Night Slugs is an unstoppable brand. Their club parties are a London staple, a cornerstone of the UK’s bass mutation scene. Bok Bok and L-Vis’ record label of the same name is several releases into a series of groundbreaking EPs, showcasing fresh new sounds from the collective that has crystalised around the duo.

The Slugs’ own productions – international club anthems like “United Groove”, “Ripe Banana”, “Compass” and “Citizens” – have appears on a variety of boutique labels such as Mad Decent, Numbers and Sound Pellegrino.

2010 sees the duo join London’s leading underground music station Rinse FM. With an unparalleled pirate radio vintage of 15 years, Rinse is a bastion of the UK scene’s unique tendency towards self-reinvention, an ethos that deeply resonates with Night Slugs’ own drive for innovation; catch the duo on Rinse every other monday, 1-3pm GMT showcasing the freshest riddims about.

Мишка Presents The Glitch Mob Drink the Sea Part 2: The Mixtape

The Glitch Mob have long been a festival favorite, rocking crowds from Lollapalooza to Red Rocks and key slots at Coachella and Ultra rocking crowds with straight dancefloor burners a la their seminal Crush Mode mixtape (a favorite around the Мишка offices) chopping and screwing the best hip-hop acapellas with shattering, fuzzed out bass lines and head-nodding beats.

The trio graduated early this year to a heady catalog of original music with their recent debut album “Drink the Sea”, currently on an international tour, but haven’t left their roots far behind. On the Drink the Sea Part 2: The Mixtape , The Glitch Mob manage to marry the power of their live and studio personas as they present their new album mixed with some vocal gems from MCs like Nas, Jay Z, Wayne and divas such as M.I.A. and La Roux.

The Glitch Mob’s mixtapes are pass-along favorites, that have made fans of the group across the Atlantic and back, time and time again. Drink the Sea Part 2: The Mixtape will be no different. If you’re going into it expecting yet another party starter from the trio, you won’t be disappointed.

Don’t forget to catch the trio throughout the United States as they embark on the Summer leg of their Drink the Sea tour! If you need more Glitch in your life make sure you check out their profile on our Bloglin series, Serious Saturday.

Store Spotting: Adam Tensta

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Not too long ago, our good friend and Swedish Mopster Adam Tensta came to pay us a visit as he was in town for a few shows. By now if you don’t know the dope boy from Tensta you must be listening to solely commercial rap and of course living under a rock!

Adam is currently prepping is his American release and in the meantime working with a slew of producers for it.

One project he’s pushing, alongside his partner in crime Babak is the Saint John’s Dance project: a straight forward electro rap punch to the gut that will tell all about life in the Tensta area! Watch out, this one bangs on the system!

Also part of the Saint John’s Dance project are the Shitsmiths. This duo brings a more fidgety vibe to their production creating a final result that can surely make everyone happy.

Digital Boy + Shark: Spirit of ’91 Mix for Discobelle’s Mixin’ It Up

This is the debut mix from Italian duo Digital Boy + Shark. 40 minutes of cut throat mixes and edits to be reckoned with that play out like a freight train destroying everything in it’s past. The lines between time are blurred by hyper speed and heavy bass creating a time space continuum from which there is no escape!

Done for Discobelle’s Mixin It Up series, Spirit of ’91 features the dance floor smasher “Gangster Rave”, the anthem “No One Can Stop Us” and their soon to be released remix of Congorock’s “Babylon”, this is more than an introduction… It’s a warning!

Past, present and future collide as the forefather of Italian Rave music, Digital Boy, joins forces with one of New York’s most infamous bass warriors, Мишка’s music man, badman Shark. In just under 5 months of activity they established the shape of Rave to come.2010 will see the rebirth of Techno through Rave, Hardcore and decades of blood, sweat and tears. Digital Boy + Shark have spent eons hoarding the best parts of dance music genres and are now ready to blend it into one grand punch to your face!

With support from all the Italian heavy weights like Crookers (for whom they will be remixing “Royal T”), Congorock and Riva Starr and international champions of modern sound Doorly, Buraka Som Sistema, Trouble & Bass, Night Slugs and DMC champ Shiftee; the duo will be looking to release it’s first single in October and EP shortly after including collaborations by Iggor Cavalera (Sepultura, Mixhell), vocalist Carrie Wilds (Drop The Lime, Crookers), alongside remixes by Buraka Som Sistema, Congorock, Adam Tensta, Rx (feat. Chae Hawk), Mr. Vega, Bare Noize, Alexander Technique, Blatta & Inesha, Deathface and Kaptain Cadillac.

For more info about the dastardly duo and their original tracks found in the mix, check out Gangster Rave.

Deep Session Rome, Season Finale w/ Drop The Lime!

Monday, July 19th, 2010

Deep Session’s season of bangin’ parties is approaching it’s end… but don’t worry! There will be many more Summer sessions in the years to come and a brand new series of parties to keep you warm through the Winter months. Last January I was able to attend their 3 year anniversary and these guys didn’t even need headliner that night! The place was packed and absolutely insane.

Deep Session have a great following of bass heads that turn out in mass for their monthly dose and it’s really an incredible time.

The crew has also started their own web cast called appropriately, Deep Session TV. In this edition (up above) follow the crew along as they take a closer look at some Italian heavy hitters in the form of  Solo and Mowgli. Two artists/producers getting loads of props in the current wave of tech-house.

head over to their YouTube channel and get caught up on all of the episodes of Deep Session TV during their Summer break

To close out the season they’ve brought in the great bass destroyer Drop The Lime off of his world wide tour and for this, his Rome debut. I can guarantee that DTL will lay down yet another impeccable performance that blends a variety of genres and his own crooning. Once the dust has settled and the crowd is laid out, all that’ll be left only standing will be DTL’s perfectly sculpted coif! Rome has no clue what they’re in for!

Benassi, Congorock & Bart B More Set to Sink Gov’s Island on July 5th!

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

NYC you will not sleep this weekend! If  our “Red, White & Brews” 4th of July Bash hasn’t killed you then this definitely will! Set your alarms for “NEVER” as you will experience real insomnia this weekend!

This is one of the most anticipated summer lineups for Benassi’s residency with Pacha as he brings heavyweight business from Italy with our boy Congorock!

We all know Benny Benassi’s “Satisfaction” and the plethora of electro bangers he’s been producing, but were you aware of  his recent remix of it by Orien?

Just in case you needed a reminder of one of the biggest electro tracks ever…

For us though, the real star here is Congorock. He’s been one of the first magenta warriors and we’ve watched him reach higher estates with quickness and force. Last weekend he played EDC where he debuted his remix for one of the biggest tracks currently in dance music, Swedish House Mafia’s “One”.

Just like his last smash hit Babylon, it delivers that hard voodoo we all love!

Bart B More will bring his unique blend of hard hitting techno shown in his new pounding release, “Brap”, played during his EDC set while people beg for mercy!

NYC dancefloor avengers Dave P & JDH (Fixed) will finish the night out in style while the hardest working rabbit in the biz, Roxy Cottontail takes the opening honors with all her grace and fury!

Store Spotting: Way Too Wild!

Saturday, June 26th, 2010

Nothing could make our day better than a visit from the lovely Carrie Wilds! The talented future-soul singer was accompanied by her bodyguard, Mr. Wilds. Meeting her father explained quite a few things for us about her that really just made us love her even more!

Her angelic voice still resonates throughout the international club thanks to the apocalyptic track by Drop The Lime, a modern classic by the name of “Set Me Free.”

And Ms. Wilds hasn’t stopped for a moment since then. She’s collaborated on the Crookers‘ track “Have Mercy” featured on their debut full-length Tons of Friends.

Tons of Friends by the way which will finally see the light of day stateside this September.

In addition to that Ms. Wilds also has a classic house number entitled “Stronger Now”, created by Lauren Flax and MK of the legendary Nightcrawlers which is out now on Djs Are Not Rockstars.  Check the monstrous remix of the song by UK dubstep duo, Bare Noize.

A little birdy also told us that she’s been locked in the studio with big man Klever. My sources also tell me that you all should prepare for big club greatness from the ensuing collaboration!
