Behold! The Мишка Holiday 2011 Lookbook Teaser Video!

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

What do the Holidays mean to you? Perhaps you think of Yuletide carols and the joy of building a snowman. Maybe for some it brings to mind memories of ignoring your bizarre uncle while seated around a table full of slow cooked meats and hearty root vegetables. Statistically speaking, for many of you it unfortunately means moping around in your underwear and compulsively watching A Christmas Story alone. But for us, it means one thing: gifts!

So, as usual, like some fucked up skeletal Santa Claus we’re almost ready to bequeath to you a bounty you will not soon forget. I am of course talking about our brand spankin’ new Holiday 2011 Collection! In a tantalizing, advent calendar type maneuver, here’s a little sneak peek to tide you over. But this isn’t just some bullshit chalky piece of chocolate shaped like a reindeer. It’s a stylish video featuring some of your favorite artists wearing our fresh wares shot by Nick Genova.

You may notice the video’s beautiful locale. You know how people call Canada “America’s Hat?” Well, as you probably know, we fucking love hats! So this year we trucked on up to say yo to our neighbors from the north and hang with some of Toronto’s premier musicians. We’ve got  longtime mopster Damian “Pink Eyes” Abraham from Fucked Up, Witch Houser High Park,
new Jokers of the Scene project Blank Capsule and dupstep dons Zeds Dead all rocking our figurative chain.

Lemme tell you, this collection is the freshest collection since our last fresh collection. Winter scarves, Death Adder beanies, varsity hoodies, a bevy of flannels, cardigans, toggle coats, and a fucking KRANG Bear Mop shirt. So peep the video, take note of your favorite pieces, and get ready to run over to 350 Broadway, Echo Park, or our Online Store in mid-to-late November to snatch them up so you can impress your family members, or freak them out depending on their age and comfortability with the underworld. Merry Festivus for all!

Joker’s Visions Are On My Mind

Saturday, November 5th, 2011

It’s been a long time coming but Joker’s The Vision has finally arrived. You may ask yourself what sort of vision did Liam McLean have? A better world, synthesized by purple sounds and a laid back attitude towards the everyday struggle. I recall hearing his first few public tracks through Plastician‘s Rinse FM show and could not stop listening to them. It was a continuum of goosebumps that stretched from the breakout “Gully Brook Lane” then to “Purple City,” the Zero 7 remix and his epic Jakes collaboration, “3K Lane.”

These dubstep classics are reflected in The Vision through “Tron,” it’s flipside “My Trance Girl” and the title track featuring Jesse Ware and Freddie Gibbs. Above is the video for his latest single from the album, “On My Mind” which features William Cartwright on vocals, dipped in Мишка, and narrating an digital-age love tale. Lay back, unwind and pre-order The Vision today via iTunes.

Shiftee and Rx Want to Thank You, One Pair of Pants at a Time

Friday, November 4th, 2011

As you already know, Shiftee and I released our collaboration EP Space Ace, out now on Rad Summer Records. What you may have not known about, however, is our affinity for snap pants. To celebrate our new promotion — providing a personal Thank You video for everyone who bought the EP — we made this video showcasing our endless supply of exploding snap pants. Stand back and enjoy. Oh, and to the one hater who disliked this video… you’re clearly jealous that your pants don’t explode when you rip them off.

Recap: Check Yo Self Los Angeles!

Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

While the Check Yo crew roves across the country with the party in tow, I wanted to share some evidence from the kick off party held here, in Smog City not too long ago. While the tour ranks include the party’s best-of players like Spank Rock, The Death Set and Pictureplane, the opening event, at the Mayan in DTLA just before Halloween welcomed an additional set from surf punk alumni Wavves and a special surprise appearance from Santigold, backing an already rocked stage of Spank Rock and Amanda Blank during the night’ closing slot. Packing the large venue, loads of friends and supporters stopped by including recent мишка mixtape-maker, Ultrademon and his Seapunk cohert, Zombelle. Highlights included the booty-shaking spectacular that is Big Freeda, Franki Chan himself playing drums for The Death Set (who where decked in мишка gear no less) and Travis Pictureplane’s Gaga-like dancers.

The Check Yo Ponytail Tour continues this weekend with sets (webcasted live) at Austin’s Fun Fun Fun Fest and a stop in Miami at Grand Central.

Enjoy photos from the ever-tired shutterbug, The Holloweyed.

Friday Escapades w/ G-Side and Our Main Man Mr. MFN eXquire

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

During this past CMJ you’ve had artists play 10 times in 3 days and not falter under the pressure of the grueling task at hand. And while you’d think they’d welcome the break, some just got the stamina to keep rocking out one show after another like our man Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire. If you haven’t heard Lost In Translation yet then you must have been dropped at birth. Shit’s spread like a virus and seeped into our brains over an intense two months of web play. Performing along side our soldier of fortune you’ll find Alabama based duo, G-Side.

G-Side will be dropping their new album, Island, on 11-11-11 and have recently been the talk of the town with write-ups in SPIN, XXL and are even up for Alabama’s finest at the BMA‘s for “Came Up,” a heartfelt tale about life in Athens, Alabama, shot at the first African American school during segregation.

Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Brooklyn Bass?

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

NYC suffered a bit last week when the natural disaster called CMJ swept through it, leaving a lot of bass heads injured from from fist pumping overdoses; Trouble & Bass was a part of this chaos, crew deep. To help you recover, the big man they call AC Slater will be releasing his next single “Big Brooklyn Bass” in anticipation of his upcoming winter release. AC has kept busy working along side Bart B More (recent Keep Watch mix alumni), Chiddy Bang and of course master of ceremonies Dell. If you were still a bit shook from his past releases then hold tight for dear life as this one will keep your arms in the air for the duration and your face screaming for more!

Take a bike ride through Williamsburg, Brooklyn with AC as he shows you his favorite bars, eateries, shops and various chill spots of the Burg where the big man and the crew go to hang when they’re not grindin’ in the studio. The crew is always up on the best spots when it comes to fine drinks, food and the best ways to relax on the 1 day a month they’re not on tour so take it from them and make the best of it!

This Friday, T&B Are Coming to Destroy CMJ!

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

NYC warriors and annoying visiting hipsters beware of the bass this coming CMJ weekend! We got two deep parties coming up that will shake rattle and roll you: first up is Trouble & Bass. The gang is all here this Friday and will be holding court at Brooklyn’s Public Assembly alongside Matt Shadetek’s Dutty Artz crew who will be holding down the backroom with some tripped out voodoo grime vibes.

Then crack your knuckles and stretch your muscles for a special delivery from Brazil we call Zombies For Money! Featured remixers for MSV’s latest (out now via us), this duo brings the hypest of hyper sounds and will transport you to a space jungle. And there you will find the big man AC Slater along side his partner Dell ready to lay out their upcoming album cuts. If you need a little taste of what to expect make sure to check out our first Bandcamp release their first mixtape, Right Now.

And it wouldn’t be a party if head honcho Drop The Lime (seen above performing his new single, “Shake Baby Shake”) wasn’t stepping up for a special DJ set with his special blend of vocal stylings and who knows he may even be rolling with the battle axe!

Udachi, Deathface, Samo Sound Boy and The Captain will all be there as well showing you their finest and why they proudly represent Brooklyn Heavy Bass and make their two crew letters shine high in the sky!

Healeymade’s Count Duckula, be very afraid!

The Overthrow predicts alot of bass in your future!

oh hey sexy Bushmills lady, you makin’ me thirsty!

Kudos to the T&B gang for putting together a multi-faceted multimedia art show to celebrate 5 years of blood sweat and tears. Congrats as well to all the artists for their interpretation of the iconic T&B logo. The crew went over and above creating limited edition watches, tarot cards, toys, charms and prints which you will find for sale for the next 6 weeks at 350 Broadway and on our online shop.

Luckily we did not have to mop the floor with any bodies due to the gracious allotment of Bushmills on premise and everyone had fun to the tunes of the special T&B 5 year megamix spanning from old school grime to their most recent label hits and remixes.
