Boy does time fly when you’re constantly performing occult rituals to bring Yog-Sothoth back from the outer zones to function as keymaster to open the gate to R’lyeh. It seems like just yesterday that I was breaking down all the new headwear we had for Holiday ’11. But, as the world turns and the dimensional rift draws near, so does the drop date for our Spring 12 collection. You wanna check some of it out? Awww yeah.

Lets peep the New Era fitteds. As always, we’ve got brand new colorways of your old favorites, including a red & blue Oversized Death Adder and an absolutely killer Knicks palette on the Keep Watch Fitted. For even more Keep Watch action, we got Lamour Supreme to draw his own take on the bloody eyeball, incorporating a Cyco Simon pupil to form the Lamour Keep Watch New Era.

If you want to stay inside the box, then take a look at the Mop Box New Era, featuring everyone’s favorite evil bear in one of our favorite geometric shapes. Last but not least, we’ve got a serious dose of painters caps this season, the black & green Keep Watch New Era Painter Cap and and a seriously sinister Death Adders New Era Painter Cap. Look out for more Spring 12 previews throughout the coming weeks. It’s gonna be super real.

Beware the Evil, For Today Is Мишка the 13th!

Мишка the 13th T-Shirt ($32.00)

Look out for black cats, avoid ladders, and don’t be touching any mirrors, because on this so auspiciously malevolent of days any sort of futzing with luck is liable to make your puny human skull explode right out of it’s thin candy shell. It’s Friday The 13th people! Go get a cheap tattoo somewhere, and while you’re at it use your smartphone to pick up this exclusive Friday the 13th-centric tee we’re bringing back from the dead.

Originally released in our Fall 2006 collection, the Мишка the 13th Tee is one of my favorites, a mashup between the classic movie poster and some inside baseball characters from the long gone but never forgotten Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tabletop RPG, TMNT & Other Strangeness. These are the Terror Bears, escaped genetic experiments who are here for your organs and whatnot. Snapple Fact: this is the last shirt we released that features an English “w” as opposed to the Cyrillic “ш.” It’s available now, In-Store and Online!

Мишка Presents C V L T S/Virgin Spirit Split 7″ and FREE Remix EP

Wednesday, January 4th, 2012

C V L T S/Virgin Spirit Split 7″ & T-Shirt

With the new year comes a new release from Мишка records. There’s something extra special about this one. For the first time ever, this 7” single is actually a split release between two artists, C V L T S and Virgin Spirit. Featuring their “Time Debt” and “Bathed In White” tracks, respectively, the C V L T S/Virgin Spirit 7” is a one-two punch of hypnotic post rock.

Trio C V L T S have long been a Мишка favorite, and are represented by the superlative Amdiscs label. “Time Debts” is a achingly pretty downtempo track that shows off the best of C V L T S. Virgin Spirit, a veritably supergroup made up of Party Trash and William Cody Watson (formerly Pink Priest), haven’t released much in the past, which is part of why we’re so pleased to be a part of “Bathed In White.”

In the past, we’ve always split our releases between black and special colored vinyl. But ya know what? We always felt bad for everyone who missed the boat on the limited edition steez, so this time the full run of 300 is all printed on translucent pink vinyl. There’s also a black Мишка tee-shirt featuring the cover art for the 7″,  both are available now in the online store.

In addition, there is also a free 7 track remix EP which is available right now from our Bandcamp. Featuring 5 remixes of “Time Debts” and two of “Bathed in White.” The remix EP takes there already terrific tracks in all new directions.

Whether it be disco-thump of Jareem Remzenimom’s “Time Debt” remix, the choral majesty of Umberto’s “Time Debt (Chillzone Mix),” the minimalist terror of Cough Cool’s edit of “Bathed In White,” or the chill downtempo joureny of Huerco S’s “Strings of Life” remix of “Time Debt.” Huerco also created a snazzy video for his remix up above.

There’s something here for everybody. So grab the 7” now in our online store, and download the FREE remix EP below.

Steady Peddlin’: Tokin’ N Hikin’

High Hiker Rucksack ($114.00)

Мишка backpacks are durable. I’ve had the same one for years and years, to the point where sometimes I’m afraid that skeleton’s or serpentine bears are going to hunt me down and ruin it, forcing me to buy a new one in a demented bloodsoaked version of those Stride gum commercial. That being said, I might have to ditch my old one anyway for this new number, the High Hiker Rucksack. Now that’s a fine lookin’ bag!

There’s no colorway more classicaly Мишка than the black/magenta/seafoam and this bag will give you way more swagger than anyone else on the trail. Back in middle school going on hikes meant stealing bizarre liquors like flavored schapps and shit from my friend’s parents then walking into the woods and getting drunk and smoking really shitty joints. My friend Alex had a crappy version of this rucksack and one time we had all these forties in it but then we ran into Alex’s aunt on the trail and he got all nervous because he was baked and ran into a tree and cracked a forty, so his pants got all soaked with beer and his aunt told all our parents. Memories.

This rucksack would never break your 40s. It’s got all the storage space you could ever want, plus theres a bear mop stitched into the reverse side. Make your own memories, with Мишка.

Steady Peddlin’: Cable Knit, Super Fit

Sunday, January 1st, 2012

Scout Cable Knit Beanie ($31.00)

What better way to start the new year than with a brand new hat? There is none. Though it may be a little more under the radar than the other models, the Scout Cable Knit Beanie is actually my personal favorite of the lineup this year. There’s nothing not to like about a good chunky cable knit, especially when you can rock it on your dome.

Cable knitting was actually invented by Nikola Tesla as a happy side effect of his experimentation with wireless electricity. While working on a new form of Faraday Cage to protect himself from stray voltage, he found that the cotton-bound wiring he used was most effective in the complex pattern that we now know as cable knitting. Though it never worked as an energy-shield (believe you me, Nikola had the singed eyebrows and glowing urine to prove it) he did end up using the pattern to mass produce sweaters which made him very popular with the ladies.

So remember, every time you wear this hat you’re wearing a little piece of history. It comes in Black and Burgundy.

Steady Peddlin’: Trapped in a Forcefield

Wednesday, December 21st, 2011

Forcefield Toggle Coat ($273.00)

Who doesn’t love a good toggle coat? Y’know what? Probably a good bit of people. But y’know who doesn’t love a GREAT toggle coat? No one. Not a soul on this earf (welcome to it). The sleekest and most rugged of our new Holiday Jackets, the Forcefield Toggle Coat is a force to be reckoned with. All weathers will be rebuffed. Coldness? Fuck outta here!

The hefty hood is faux-fur lined to keep your ears and general dome piece warm as all get out, but don’t think we forgot about the rest of the torso. There’s red flannel lining in there too. More than anything though, just the simple pleasure of stealing through the night, all black err’thing, a dark shadow drifting in and out of snowdrifts. This is your element. With the Forcefield Toggle Coat, that is.

The Official Knit Cap of DEATH!

Monday, December 19th, 2011

Death Beanie ($32.00)

Keep your head warm and your soul ice cold with the frightening and fashionable Death Beanie. If you only buy one hat this winter that openly espouses one of the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse, it’s gonna be this one. Not that we would ever want to limit you like that.

All black with the crisp old english font, this hat is a throwback to the early days of NWA and those black “Compton” fitteds. Except instead of rollin’ around the hoods of LA mean mugging cops, this hat will make you feel like you’re driving a skeletal carriage through the seventh circle of hell sharing a dusted blunt with Virgil and clowning on Fra Alberigo and Diomedes as they suffer in eternal torment.
