Holy Shit! You haven’t been to the Mishka Pop-Up Shop?!?

Friday, July 11th, 2008

holy_shit

If you still haven’t been to the Mishka Pop-Up Shop, I am not sure what you are waiting for!?! First of all, we are closing in a month! Yes, in the next month Pop-Up will be nothing but a faded Williamsburg memory like Cokies or the Kellog’s Diner. RIP.

actual_pain_tee

As you may already know, Actual Pain took over the Pop-Up Shop for the last month! It is I think the only place in Brooklyn that you can pick up the Actual Pain Sketch Book Collection, and the ONLY place to see an ACTUAL copy of the Sketch Book itself. What dark secrets does it hold?!?

cool_art_tj

TJ hand painted the walls with a very special paint. A mixture of dragon’s blood, a tooth from a hornless unicorn, a lynx’s claw, and the shadow of your smile. Do not be frightened young friend, they will not hurt you. Unless you are filled with poser blood, then they are thirsty, VERY THIRSTY!

come_meet_gill

If you are not tempted to come to the Pop-Up for any of the reasons above, then come to see Gill. Gill is our star Pop-Up Employee. She loves it when cute boys come to visit her and she loves kittens.

e_t_phone_homo

Last but def not least, you can say hi to ET! Ok, its not the real ET, but it is a lifesive ET hamper. You most likely didn’t have one as a kid, because they were recalled almost as soon as they were released. I guess a few kids decided to put their head in the back door of ET, get it stuck, and suffocate. Tragic indeed!

Apart from the Actual Pain Sketchbook Collection, you can also buy the FULL RANGE of Mishka’s Summer in Abandon collection! Boardshorts, T-shirts, Seersucker Shorts, New Era Fitteds, Stickers, Pins…we got you!

Here Comes the Paaaaain!

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

ActualPainpop1

If you haven’t checked out the new Actual Pain Sketchbook Collection up on our site then you need to get punched in the face! Straight Iron (Not Italian) Mike style!

ActualPainpop3

You can also currently visit our Pop-Up Shop on Bedford Ave and N 5th St in  Williamsburg, to view and buy the entire (or rather what’s left) collection and take in the shop’s makeover courtesy of  T.J. Cowgill, The man and the myth behind Actual Pain! Now go rob a liquor store and buy some clothes!

ActualPainPop2

T.J. was also kind enough to leave behind the very sketchbook full of all the original illustrations he used in creating his Summer 2008 Sketchbook Collection! Pretty fucking sweet and disturbed, just how we like ‘em!

Mishka Presents: The Actual Pain Sketchbook Collection Pop-Up Shop & Opening Party!

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

ActualPainPopUp

We’re very proud to present to all of you…

The Actual Pain Sketchbook Collection/Mishka Pop-Up Shop!

Our Pop-Up shop has lasted months longer than we originally anticipated, but it’s run is about to come to an end very soon. To cap off a wonderful run we’ve decided to hand the shop over to one of our favorite artists & brands… Actual Pain! We couldn’t think of a better person or way to say Rest In Piece to our little tomb of retail.

Starting today, at 2pm, July 1st, the Pop-Up shop will be open and fully Actual Pained out from head to toe! It will also be the first place worldwide to get the ENTIRE ACTUAL PAIN SUMMER 2008 SKETCHBOOK COLLECTION! You can also find limited quantities of the entire collection on our Webstore.

We even collaborated on a very special shirt for the collection! Inspired by last Fall’s epic Rasputin album & artwork from metal great Derek Riggs, T.J. (of Actual Pain) set forth to do up an illustration for what could have been the 7″ single and T-shirt for the monstrous single… Shield, Protect Thy Master!

We would also like to invite to a full on Metal bash we’re throwing in honor of the collection at Trophy Bar tomorrow night! Come Hang out with us and T.J. of Actual Pain and get wasted listening to some truly righteous Metal!

Musical Murdah Vol 2: The Dark Issue by Selecta Seb-One on the Doombox Now!

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Darkissue

The famous Mix CD series is back! Musical Murdah Vol 2: The Dark Issue! From the Stockholm native Selecta Seb-One. This is how Seb-One explains the mix in his own words:

This is mainly a hip hop & grime mix for the people who like dark and relatively slow beats. I’ve tried to capture a certain dark mood through the whole mix but it varies a little bit in other aspects. The first half is more hard hitting, bass driven and energetic with a lot of electro elements while the other half is more emotional and inspiring but yet powerful.

The Dark Issue is now up for listening on the Doombox and is available for sale at the Mishka Pop-Up Shop. For optimal listening, listen to the mix at night! And look out for more forthcoming volumes from Seb-One!

A Suckadelicly Awesome JK5 Opening Party, Saturday March 8th @ The Pop-Up Shop!

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

JK5 Opening Party Flyer
We are very proud to announce that this Saturday, March 8th from 6-10pm we will have the official opening party for the JK5 Capsule collection at our Pop-Up shop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn! We spent a lot of time and love in creating this collection and now we want you all to come and celebrate with us at the Pop-Up Shop which will be totally JK5ified! This will be the first time the ENTIRE JK5 Collection will be available together in one place! Plus we’ll have DJs, refreshments and even a brand new T-shirt!

JK5 Opening Shirt
We pressed a very limited run of these Boba Mop JK5 x Mishka Logo tees just for the opening. What Joseph did with our logo is just beautiful! We wanted to put out a shirt that just showed it’s elegant and simple beauty as a counter to the collage filled one in the regular capsule collection. We will have a very limited amount of these to give out at the opening and some on sale at the Pop-Up Shop.

Kreactivader Figures
And the piece de resistance of the opening is that we got Suckadelic to pull away from his hectic schedule and create a Kreactivader action figure just for this opening! It’s got custom JK5 Capsule Collection packaging and real pencils for hands! These bad boys come in blue and magenta but unfortunately they ridiculously limited to 16 total pieces (8 per color); And worse yet is everyone calling dibs on one already! But we will have some for sale at the Pop-Up shop to all you toy fetishists and Suckadelic collectors out there.

Kreactivader Magenta
JK5 & The Sucklord spent some time crafting this unique totally new imagining of the Kreactivader which perfectly en capsules not only Joseph’s work, but Suckadelic’s. Now this isn’t the first time JK5 & The Sucklord have worked together way back in 2003 the two put on what was probably the greatest art show in the history of the original Alife space on Orchard St. It was utter insanity! We’re really honored to do something with Suckadelic as that show was such an inspiration to us.

Kreactivader Blue
Head over to the Suckadelic site and get familiar with not only his toys & art, but his amazing Mix CDs! Sample heavy audio assemblages focusing on Star Wars, Lord of the Rings or just Super-Villians in general. It’s like a Sci-Fi audio acid trip.

But Suckadelic doesn’t stop there, as he’s also part of the Original Villain Network! head over to their site and check out the many hilarious episodes posted.
