I’m sure I’m late on this guy, but with all the Juggalo obsession that goes on over here on the Bloglin, I figured someone might appreciate this. Borgore’s a new “hot” producer in the Dubstep scene. His forthcoming EP entitled Borgore “Ruined Dubstep” is due out by the end of the month. With tracks like Nympho, it’s easy to see how his shock value is gaining him attention.
Kinda like what ICP did to Wigger rock right? Maybe? Prolly not.

Two weekends ago was the Mid-West Mayhem in Milwaukee. It was the dead of winter and yet somehow, this event drew riders in from every part of the country and even Canada. NorCal, SoCal, Texas, the South, North East, New England, everywhere. Through the aid of their sponsors, riders were able to pay for tickets and ship their bikes out to the event. I don’t think anyone expected it to be as big as it was. The date approached and I flew out to Milwaukee at 6am.
I’ve been sponsored by Milwaukee Bicycle Co. / Ben’s Cycle for a few years now and I had never been to their storefront before. Since I was in town so early, I got the full tour of their facilities.
It’s an amazing shop. They stock everything from vintage parts to modern road, mountain bike and fixed gear components.
The bikes they’ve collected over the years are gorgeous.
… and in pristine condition.
Across the street from their internet sales and main storefront, is the Ben’s Cycle and Fitness storefront. The main shop has been open since 1928. A few years ago, they bought the storefront across the street, which was an old movie theater. Inside this theater is loads and loads of vintage bikes, new-old-stock components and crazy junk (there’s no better was to describe it).
Back over in the internet sales office, Drew gave me the grand tour of their facilities. Of course he made me drool by pulling out these new-old-stock, or NOS, Campy Pista (track) cranks. They may not look like anything special to you, but this model in particular is incredibly rare. They lack the flutes (carving out) in the arms and have a printed Campagnolo shield. The last pair of these they had sold for $900.
It was now getting later in the day on Friday and people started showing up. Eric Puckett came in from Texas with a few other kids. Dude’s a ripper and we hook him up with Mishka stuff.
Tom was also there.
Doing what he does best.
He was doing this all morning. Like bouncing a tennis ball inside a prison cell.
I wanted to do bike portraits this entire trip, but only took a few. Here’s Tom’s Charge Scissor. Thing’s got some war scars. A huge dent in his down-tube from bailing on a nose-manual at the Brooklyn banks.
Which he knocked over while I was taking photos of it.
We were all stir-crazy at that point and wanting to ride. Luckily our friends from COG Magazine were there to show us around to a few spots. So the crew that flew into Milwaukee on Friday took off around the city hitting up spots. Here’s tom pedal grinding a ledge.
Check after the jump for way more photos, video and a recap of the entire weekend!
Former Bulls All-Star Scottie Pippen just issued a press release regarding an upcoming straight to video release titled Mascots vs. Midgets, which due to to the absurdity surrounding it, is now beginning to circulate the internet.
Apparently Pippen agreed to appear in a cameo role for the movie formerly known as A Tribute to Big Red. What he didn’t know is that the director had ulterior motives and set Pippen up for what appears to be a full-on little people beatdown. The scene in the above clip wasn’t scripted and after it was shot, the director explained to Pippen that he’d been “punk’d.”
If this wasn’t strange enough, Gary Coleman is pissed about the movie containing “inadvertent” nude scenes of him. Poor Gary. The only thing missing from this are a few juggalos with some facepaint and Faygo.
Even though most of these albums were reviewed here on the Bloglin, I wanted to take the time to post my own top 10 album lists of 2009. Check ‘em out if you’ve got a second!
I just posted to my blog the Top 10 Fixed Gear Freestyle Photos of 2009. Many of the riders you’ve seen on the Bloglin before and many are considered “new jacks” to the FGFS scene. To the cyclists who read the Bloglin, regardless to what kinds of bikes you ride, surely you can appreciate the magnitude in some of these pictures. If anything, it serves as a way to mark and document the progressing sport of fixed gear freestyle.
Some of the shots are impressive, regardless of the bike! Like Tom’s epic nose-manual bail captured by John Hargraft a few weeks ago. It was really difficult to weed through the 1000’s of photos I’ve posted and come across on the internet. A lot were overlooked by accident and others were omitted for one reason or the other. I wanted to stress the word “photograph” moreso than “trick”.
Back on August 27th this year, the Revival crew was in town filming Torey, Wonka, Jeremiah and me. The guys rolled through Peel Sessions and hung out with the regulars. I figured it’d be a big turnout so we made a ghetto wedge out of some pallets and plywood. Everyone was hitting it and a bunch of BMXrs came out to ride, blasting 360s and 180s off it.
One of those dudes, Scott Marceau was there shooting with a Flip Cam. He caught a few good beefs and some other general goodness. I compiled a short little edit of some of the clips. It’s nothing too serious, but the falls are too good to not post. The Revival bonus disk will have some extra footage as well, so be on the look out when the DVD drops.
No secret: I’m a space geek. So when I saw this video, ‘A Glorious Dawn ft. Stephen Hawking (Cosmos Remixed)’ I actually sort of welled up and almost shed a tear.
Space is beautifully complex. Thinking about space makes me feel like less than nobody. Less than inconsequential. Less than anything ever forever and never. By proxy, my problems, worries, fears, and doubts become nothing with me. Which is comforting.
Ideas like ‘…not a sunrise, but a galaxy-rise; A morning filled with 400 billion suns…’ and ‘The simplest thought, like the concept of the number one is an elaborate logical underpinning…’ are so pure and deep that, well, it hurts (in the good way) to really—REALLY—think about them.
What can touch you when you spend your days thinking about shit like that? Sagan must have been carved out of wood. Parking ticket? That’s all good…I was busy thinking about how to calculate the amount of starfuel there might be in the universe. Keep the change.
I don’t know. When life gets me down, I think about space. And little snippets like this one absolutely remind me that I’m not alone. We’re all alone. Together. Forever. And never.
Kudos to John Boswell for resisting the urge to make fun of the ’70s and creating a truly accessible, and hopefully wide-reaching glimpse into such awe-inspiring intellects. Space is the fucking place.
Rip Zinger is a well-known street-culture photographer in Tokyo. In fact, he just had a book launching for New York City in Shibuya and all kinds of skateboarding celebrities showed up.
While I was in Japan, all battered and bruised up, he kept wanting to go shoot pics with me. Finally I was able to ride one day and we set off to a few spots I had seen while riding through Shibuya.
Some spots were busts, like this one, where I only got one run on it.
Other spots were in parks and aside from the waves of pedestrians passing through, were pretty much fair game. I was surprised to see this pic after I blasted a 180 off a sidewalk hip. Pretty high!
Here’s a pretty popular BMX spot. A nice steep bank, perfect for a 3 tap.
Thanks so much for taking me around Rip! When you come to NYC, come hang out!
