Scottie Pippen vs. Midgets

Friday, January 8th, 2010

Former Bulls All-Star Scottie Pippen just issued a press release regarding an upcoming straight to video release titled Mascots vs. Midgets, which due to to the absurdity surrounding it, is now beginning to circulate the internet.

Apparently Pippen agreed to appear in a cameo role for the movie formerly known as A Tribute to Big Red. What he didn’t know is that the director had ulterior motives and set Pippen up for what appears to be a full-on little people beatdown. The scene in the above clip wasn’t scripted and after it was shot, the director explained to Pippen that he’d been “punk’d.”

If this wasn’t strange enough, Gary Coleman is pissed about the movie containing “inadvertent” nude scenes of him. Poor Gary. The only thing missing from this are a few juggalos with some facepaint and Faygo.

The Top 10 Fixed Gear Freestyle Photos of 2009

Monday, December 21st, 2009

I just posted to my blog the Top 10 Fixed Gear Freestyle Photos of 2009. Many of the riders you’ve seen on the Bloglin before and many are considered “new jacks” to the FGFS scene. To the cyclists who read the Bloglin, regardless to what kinds of bikes you ride, surely you can appreciate the magnitude in some of these pictures. If anything, it serves as a way to mark and document the progressing sport of fixed gear freestyle.

Some of the shots are impressive, regardless of the bike! Like Tom’s epic nose-manual bail captured by John Hargraft a few weeks ago. It was really difficult to weed through the 1000′s of photos I’ve posted and come across on the internet. A lot were overlooked by accident and others were omitted for one reason or the other. I wanted to stress the word “photograph” moreso than “trick”.

Anyway, let us know what you think!

Peel Sessions with the Revival

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Peel Sessions with the Revival from John Prolly on Vimeo.

Back on August 27th this year, the Revival crew was in town filming Torey, Wonka, Jeremiah and me. The guys rolled through Peel Sessions and hung out with the regulars. I figured it’d be a big turnout so we made a ghetto wedge out of some pallets and plywood. Everyone was hitting it and a bunch of BMXrs came out to ride, blasting 360s and 180s off it.

One of those dudes, Scott Marceau was there shooting with a Flip Cam. He caught a few good beefs and some other general goodness. I compiled a short little edit of some of the clips. It’s nothing too serious, but the falls are too good to not post. The Revival bonus disk will have some extra footage as well, so be on the look out when the DVD drops.

Music provided by Fukpig “As the Bombs Fall” off the album Spewings from a Selfish Nation.

A Glorious Dawn

Friday, October 9th, 2009

No secret: I’m a space geek. So when I saw this video, ‘A Glorious Dawn ft. Stephen Hawking (Cosmos Remixed)’ I actually sort of welled up and almost shed a tear.

Space is beautifully complex. Thinking about space makes me feel like less than nobody. Less than inconsequential. Less than anything ever forever and never. By proxy, my problems, worries, fears, and doubts become nothing with me. Which is comforting.

Ideas like ‘…not a sunrise, but a galaxy-rise; A morning filled with 400 billion suns…’ and ‘The simplest thought, like the concept of the number one is an elaborate logical underpinning…’ are so pure and deep that, well, it hurts (in the good way) to really—REALLY—think about them.

What can touch you when you spend your days thinking about shit like that? Sagan must have been carved out of wood. Parking ticket? That’s all good…I was busy thinking about how to calculate the amount of starfuel there might be in the universe. Keep the change.

I don’t know. When life gets me down, I think about space. And little snippets like this one absolutely remind me that I’m not alone. We’re all alone. Together. Forever. And never.

Kudos to John Boswell for resisting the urge to make fun of the ’70s and creating a truly accessible, and hopefully wide-reaching glimpse into such awe-inspiring intellects. Space is the fucking place.

Rip Zinger and Me

rip_mishka_06

Rip Zinger is a well-known street-culture photographer in Tokyo. In fact, he just had a book launching for New York City in Shibuya and all kinds of skateboarding celebrities showed up.

rip_mishka_02

While I was in Japan, all battered and bruised up, he kept wanting to go shoot pics with me. Finally I was able to ride one day and we set off to a few spots I had seen while riding through Shibuya.

Some spots were busts, like this one, where I only got one run on it.

rip_mishka_04

Other spots were in parks and aside from the waves of pedestrians passing through, were pretty much fair game. I was surprised to see this pic after I blasted a 180 off a sidewalk hip. Pretty high!

Here’s a pretty popular BMX spot. A nice steep bank, perfect for a 3 tap.

Thanks so much for taking me around Rip! When you come to NYC, come hang out!

Dethklok Bloodlines Music Video

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

I’ll admit it, I watch Metalocalypse and I listen to Dethklok sometimes. I loved their first album. It’s cheesy and catchy and there’s nothing wrong with that. Once you take it at face-value, it’s actually pretty good. Dethklok’s newest video off their forthcoming album, The Dethalbum II has been leaked to the internet recently. Exploring the blood roots of the band mates, the video takes place in a Brazilian rain forest, where each band-mate meets their power animal.

Ok, it’s kinda cheesy… so what?

But who’s catching their show with High on Fire, Mastodon and Converge? October 29th and 30th NYC!

Don’t Steal Bikes Bro!

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Saw this earlier on Prolly’s Blog. It’s fun to watch again and again. “You like to steal bikes papi?”

Story Urban Cyclist:

Here’s the story. I was having brunch on first ave and first street with a a couple of friends including Alfred .It was a pretty sunny day and a good there was a good amount of pedestrian traffic .Nothing unusual. Alfred went out to make a call and spotted someone looking over his bike. Nothing unusual ,he got a hot ass cannondale with hot ass wheels.the guy was average looking, had a helmet and a bag.looked like your average joe casual biker.Suddenly this dude gets on his knees and pulls out a drill. At first Alfred thought he wanted to steal his wheels, until he saw the drill. Is this what it has come out to?!people stealing bike with drills?Anyways as he was getting ready to drill the ulock,Alfred comes in the restaurant and yells,!yooooo someones trying to steal my bike, lets go get him.and let me tell you this ass hole tried stealing the wrong bike.first it was a bike messengers bike and second it was Alfred’s bike and the motherFkr got a temper sometimes.so we roll out to this dude and start pounding him.my first instinct was to get my U lock and bang on him,but my bike was already locked up so , we bumbrushed this dude and started pounding him.Everybody is watching and wondering why this dude is being plumeted ,but at that point we don’t give a fuck.we had to make sure this asshole dosen’t do it again.me personal i have had 2 bikes stolen,in like a month apart.fuck that shit.he did’t even look like a bike thief!so while pounding him i reach out to put my phone in my pocket and realized i had a camera on my wait.i pulled it out and captured the second half of the beating!

Death Adder Theme

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

As you all know the Death Adder is part of our iconography. What I just found out is that the final boss of Golden Axe is also Death Adder. Needless to say Golden Axe is amongst my favorites and this track is totally ’80s minimals.

Further more I just stumbled upon a bunch of people who cover their favorite theme songs from video games such as this amazing cover of the above “Death Adder Theme”.

And of course this crazy power metal medley of Castlevania, Zelda and Megaman. Endless thunder!
