Store Spotting: Keep Watch On Hopsin

Monday, September 10th, 2012

You may not recognize him without the day-glo eyes, but that’s quick-tongued Los Angeles rapper Hopsin stopping by our 350 Broadway location last week. Having built up an ever growing following with his dense rhymes and lauded “Ill Mind Of Hopsin” series, this turnt up XXL Freshman is sure to be on everyone’s radar soon.

Rocking the all black everything, even down to his bitchin’ Beavis & Butthead tee. Keep one eye open, because you may be seeing some gear from us and Hopsin soon…

Store Spotting: Beautiful Lou Mobbed Up 350

Wednesday, September 5th, 2012

Texas based rapper/producer Beautiful Lou was looking 4 sumone 2 B young with recently in NYC, and was nice enough to stop by our 350 Broadway location, bringing along his co-producer/photographer Glazed DoNuts as well. As you can see, the awesomeness of the store was making some interesting things happen to his face.

There was much mobbing and very little sobbing as Lou and the Glazed one perused the new Fall 2012 Line

Store Spotting: Kool A.D. Came With A Crew

Monday, August 27th, 2012

Greedhead running deep in these streets! Bet you wouldn’t want to run into these gentlemen in a dark alley. You’re about to get a face full of Sweet Tea, the get pimp slapped by a beard. Kool A.D. of Das Racist recently stopped by out 350 Broadway store, and he had a whole bunch o’ buddies in tow. Lakutis, apparently having exited the forest, was there.

Along with rappers Tom Cruz and Fat Tony (you did see that ill “Double Dragon” video, right?) as well as producer Amaze 88, who contributed a lions share of the beats to Kool A.D.’s rad as hell mixtape 51. I shudder to think about the path of destruction that these dudes left in the streets.

Store Spotting: Show You Suck Was Surprised To See Us

Monday, June 25th, 2012

That dope dude Show You Suck rolled tough and deep (pause) through the Мишка offices and 350 Broadway last week with his whole crew from Chicago. They were in town for his performance at the famous S.O.B.’s. Not that we were surprised, but Show You Suck was a super nice guy, which made us even happier about the increasing buzz he’s getting with his One Man Pizza Party series of mix tapes.

As you can see above, he was clearly surprised to be kicking it in 350 Broadway. I understand, it can be an overwhelmingly dope place at times. The first time I went in there I ended up in a coma for like 10 days. They have Street Fighter. I’ve mentioned that, right? Bout a HUNDRED TIMES! Check out Show You Suck’s most recent mixtape Loose Slices (complete with incredible cover) here.

Store Spotting: Crizzly Adams Did Have A Beard

Tuesday, June 12th, 2012

Well, not really, but Crizzly is a totally cool DJ from Texas who recently stopped in our 350 Broadway location, soon after making Giants Stadium (ugh, fine, MetLife stadium whatever…) shake with his performance at EDC.

With his patented brand of crunkstep, Crizzly is the dude who’s set will convince you to just say fuck it and bite through that glowstick. C’mon, you know you always wanted to.

Crizzly picked himself out a snazzy Based Snapback. Nice choice young man. Sorry about those Spurs (well, sorta), but I’m sure you can heal San Antonio’s wounds with some booty shaking eardrum rumbling music.

Check Crizzly out on tour with fellow Mishka friend 12th Planet. Thanks for stopping by!

Store Spotting: El Producto Eyes Our Products

Thursday, May 24th, 2012

Man of the hour El-P recently stopped by our 350 Broadway Store to pick up that fresh jacket (which later made an appearance on national TV), taking a break from what has surely been an insanely busy couple of weeks for him.

After years of seeing him struggle with the various hardships that befell Def Jux, and just the whole ringtone rap era, it’s been – I think for everyone – deeply satisfying watching him get the recognition he deserves.

Especially with a duo of releases as strong as R.A.P. Music with Killer Mike and his own Cancer For Cure, El-P might – improbably enough – just be hitting his stride.

For more, check out our own Zachg’s recent interview with Mr. Meline, and also take a gander at some footage from the recent C4C release party at Santos.

Store Spotting: You Can’t Stop Flux Pavilion

Monday, May 21st, 2012

Our homie Flux Pavilion was in the States recently, stopping by NYC for an awesome show at Roseland Ballroom. While he was here he was nice enough to make an appearance at 350 Broadway with some friends, all of whom were supporting the Death Adder in all its different incarnations in full force.

This bleach top dubstep guru has only been getting better and more popular, not only in the UK but all over the world, especially after his hit “I Can’t Stop” was co-opted for a Watch The Throne beat. Essentially the ultimate co-sign.

He also met up for an interview with the team at ItsBongoBoy, and made a sartorial decision so simple and yet so awesome: rocking the Lamour Bomber inside out to show off Lamour Supreme’s insane lining design.

In all seriousness, how in the fuck had this not occurred to me? Is everyone else doing this and I’m just the last to know? Whatever the case may be, it’s certifiably wicked. Flux Pavilion: always innovating.

Store Spotting: K.E.V.O.R.K.I.A.N & Vogt Bro Down!

Monday, May 14th, 2012

This was a great visit that we had at the store: one of our prized loglin writers Nick Vogt was in town from Boston and Mr K.E.V.O.R.K.I.A.N from A Tribe Called Death was one day removed from getting hitched.

Both first time visitors to our LA digs, not to mention both dedicated Mopsters, we chopped it up about everything from music to the left coast, and comics, as well as checking out some new digs from the Summer ’12 collection.

Store Spotting: Shy Guy is Crakked Out

Sunday, May 6th, 2012

I was going to attempt to write this Store Spotting in a chopped & screwed style, but then I realized that would would be extremely difficult and almost certainly incoherent, but the point is it’s the thought that counts, so please imagine that this text is soaked in a heaping layer of purple syrup. Producer Shy Guy, one half of duo Crakk Nicholson, recently stopped by our 350 Broadway store with a leaned out gift.

No, it wasn’t cough syrup, but it was physical copies of his screw tape East Coast Screw Vol 1: Let My Timbs Do Purp, which we featured on the Bloglin a couple weeks ago. Appropriating the Southern remix style to transform some of the Big Apple’s best classics, Shy Guy went as far as to record this thing directly to his Dad’s circa 1980 cassette recorded for extra authenticity. So if you’re in 350 and are looking for a pretty purple experience, grab a copy of the CD!

Store Spotting: Chippy Nonstop Twerked On Echo Park

Monday, April 16th, 2012

I lost, like, 10-12 pounds this weekend just booty bouncing to Chippy Nonstop‘s new mixtape #Global School of Twerk. Seriously, just alone in my apartment. It was actually really embarrassing and sad. Do you guys want to be my friends?

Chippy’s mixtape really is just that good. Luckily for her, she was having a much more positive weekend, and stopped by our Echo Park store, perhaps on her way to Coachella or maybe just being awesome in general. For more on Chippy, look for her interview on the Bloglin tomorrow afternoon!
