Trouble & Bass Wins The Red Bull Music Academy Culture Clash

By Gnou, 05/10/2013 - 7:32pm
What started out as a rather large soundclash in London in 2010 has now toured over the world, with the SMOG dudes beating Dim Mak and Stones Throw in 2010 and again in 2012 SMOG dominated Dim Mak, Jeffree's and Friends of Friends; last year Boy Better Know also beat Major Lazer and Disclosure in a sold out Wembley stadium. Of course crowds filled up the Roseland Ballroom, this first Culture Clash of 2013, and the first one to take place in New York. This edition pitted Federation Sound's Max Glazer and Kenny Meez against the Roc's Just Blaze and Young Guru against Uproot Andy's Que Bajo?! against the Trouble & Bass DJs. The latter brought the rice out in the form of Robin S, Cam'ron, Telli of Ninjasonik, Flatbush Zombies, Dave Nada and Nina Sky, an eclectic bunch that could only beat the heavy hitters assembled by Just Blaze (who still got 2 Chainz, Raekwon and Bun B to perform). If you missed the Boiler Room live stream last night, you can only cross fingers that RBMA puts up last night's show on their XM radio station as they did for last years' edition.
