Moby will always have a special place in my heart. He soundtracks the rainfall, he heightens the party. His discography is lengthy and strong enough to always be able to find a proper track to fit the mood. While the 47-year-old has done everything from house party singles to sample-friendly dance tracks to sad piano-driven rollercoasters, his upcoming album (Innocents) seems to be taking off in an uplifting, poppy, and fantastical direction. At least, if I can judge an upcoming album's tone based strictly on the second single, “A Perfect Life,” featuring The Flaming Lips' creative psychedelic guru Wayne Coyne. According to a Rolling Stone piece about the music video, “the casting call requested the following: 'S&M gimp rhythmic gymnast,' 'eight roller-skating ghosts,' '12 goth choir members,' '2 obese bearded bikers in red speedos,' 'a punk rock brass brand' and 'a drunk king: guy with beard age 35-50.'” I don't think I need to say anything else. Start your week off with this mad-eyed video: a sing-a-long, a mariachi Moby and Wayne Coyne collaboration. Four minutes of love, four minutes of fun. At the end of the month, Moby is dropping his eleventh LP, Innocents. The album will feature numerous guests like Cold Specks, Damien Jurado, Skylar Grey, and Mark Lanegan.
